This is a thread to pay praise and respect to the lower class people of the USA.

I am currently unemployed but when I do work I usually make around $25,000-$30,000 a year.

So, if you make under $60,000 a year could you please kindly reply to this thread?

I thought all people that made over $60,000 a year..had real lives and didn't need an internet life:confused:

I'm a teacher...I make way under $60 000 and probably always will.

Don't ever say that about yourself Tantanah. Everybody has potential to grow and do whatever they want to in life.

Not to be mean and burst your bubble, but you are sadly mistaken there WhatsHerName.

I hate to burst your bubble, but $60,000 and under is not lower class.

Yes it is, cuz you can't raise oh say 2-3 kids comfortably just off of $60,000 a year.

I wasn't saying it in a bad way. I love what I do. :)

I would love to slum on 59000 a year. Class? Hell you sound like some Watch Hill millionaire. We need to fight this whole idea of class. It styfles at best and at worst trains us into apathy, morally and politicallly. Gandi never made 60000 in a year and in fact barely ate and yet he challenged and changed an entire system based on race and class.

I respect the lower class.
They give me someone t walk all over as I climb my way to the top.

So far Im still on the bottom.

I know. My aunt is a school teacher and she is as happy as you are to be a teacher.

Another teacher here. I too love my job. However, the top of our pay scale is less than the average income for the county I'm in.

It isn't like that at all. In fact, I DON'T like rich people AT ALL.

If you can't raise three kids on $60,000 a year, then you are a financial idiot.

Most of America does it every day and that doesn't mean it's always easy, but it doesn't put them in the lower class, either.

Of course you can. You're talking middle class. If the average income in the US is 35,000 per person, and it is, then most families live off 70,000 or less. Usually less.

I'm a waitress and that won't be changing until I get of of school in 3 years. Under $12,000 a year for me.

Ok, so what's your cut-off point before you get into the middle class?

$35,000? $40,000? $45,000? $50,000?

Median income for the year 2000 was $42,000. So if you want to use median as the middle of the economic bell curve, the that's the "middle" of the middle class.

P.S. All the people raising 3 kids on $60,000 and under that I know live in California, where $60,000 is really $42,968.02.

Ok point taken, but if you have 2-3 kids to take care of and you only make $60,000 a year you have to take care of them the right way. I'm talking about living in at least a $100,000+ house and buying a majority of your kids clothes from a mall and having your kids eat name-brand food.

Do you have any kids?

Or Massachusetts where $60,000 is acutally $32,500 after taxes.
