I have a cousin who's a roman catholic priest, recently ordained and instilled with a sparkling sense of righteousness.... well I was getting sick of having him try to save my soul and throwing scripture at me so I looked for some sources to argue the bible in it's historical and translational context. I know their are books to help but I came across no walls ministry... it's been a really awesome resource. I actually emailed a friend in Israel to check some of her translation and it seems she's pretty accurate. So far he's actually changed his opinion on Leviticus and Deuteronomy. :D

No walls ministry

There is no gay-bashing biblical text. Homosexuality is hardly even mentioned, much less than advocating violence towards homosexuals.

Absolutely true but their are lines that can be and are construed to mean that homosexuality is a sin. One of the things people forget is that 1) the bible was written in Greek, Hebrew, and a bit of Latin... not English. Much of how it's meant to be read is lost in translation either by some words in the bible having multiple meanings... or because some words don't have any meaning at all. 2) The bible HAS to be taken in historical and social context. People read it like it pertains to them but many sections in the old testament not only have nothing to do with Christianity but can't even be brought to relate at all. I mean, a huge part of the bible involves Jewish ceremonial law and laws governing Levites specifically... it cracks me up when people quote from Leviticus but yet ignore the bits about kosher eating, not wearing clothes of mixed fiber, going to church on sat... etc. meh, it's a good resource because she gives specific terms, translations, and sources for her interpretations to use to back your argument..... though realistically if someone isn't going to listen they just aren't going to start listening if you present facts.

Unfortunately true.
