the magic wand will pick all of one colour or shade

i use Adobe Photoshop
Corel DRAW
and Corel Photopaint

they have similer options to resize... Image, resize then you change the setting to pixels and change the larges number to 150 the second will change automaticly

This is a nice little program. It will not take up much disc space(very small) and will allow you to resize. Combined with a simple paint program you can do some basic work with pics for avatars.

The only real problem with Photoshop is that it is rather expensive (around $500) unless you get the SE version with a camera or scanner, and it is a bit daunting to learn.

I just got Adobe and wanted to play around. Here's the first image again, sharpened but with the pink background intact.

This is just for comparison purposes really.

With Paint Shop Pro, I used the soften filter and then the sharpen filter to blur the distortions caused by the "lossy" nature of JPG format and then used "smart resize" to reduce the dimensions.
