If you were e-mailing a stranger whose profile caught your eye on a dating site, would you keep the first e-mail short and to the point, or write a longer version, say 750 words, to try to reel them in?

The fact that the longer version just might happen to be exactly the same number of words as the minimum Lit submission is pure coincidence, honest.

I would tend to write a reasonable-sized introductory letter, in order to try and give them a lot of conversational hooks to reply to. However, I can't see it going up to 750 words.

Having reeled many a fool? Be a writer. 500 words tops though - dont bore them - be a mystery - people love it on those sites - let them HANG.

Hmmm. I stopped and signed off at 315 words, but my character is sub, and sort of panting for approval from the e-mail recipient. Is it okay to not be a mystery?

As a kinda domme? Mystery. We are all slaves. However, a character on a dating site is not a great start.

If you're saying I sent the first email, not responding to him sending me one, I'd say one or two paragraphs. Gad, 750 words! My lifes story... to a person who may never respond. kinky.
