Hi! I am in the process of writing a story about a dominant man and a submissive woman. I need some help please. There are certain situations that I want to include but I need more sexual things to do to a submissive woman. I don't want this to be based completely on my tastes. I am going to be using some bondage, a spanking or two, a possible hitachi wand (which I've never done before), hair pulling, that sorta thing. I'm trying to stay away from my norm which has incest in it. I'm not wanting the story to become too painful, mostly dominance but am open to suggestions. Can anyone help, please? Thanks!

Why not just read a dozen or so stories from the BDSM category that have earned an H marker? That will tell you the kinds of activities that most readers enjoy seeing in their smut. Around here you're just going to get the usual blow-me-while-you-eat-oatmeal semi-vanilla kinds of ideas.

My intent was clearly worded: blow ME while YOU'RE eating oatmeal - that's suitably not terribly hot, of course. Sorry, it was the most vanilla-like demand I could think of at the time.

Kitten, I'd definitely start with your own tastes - the stuff that's personally interesting is easy to write, and you'll find that'll help your mind wander into new things.

Think about the feelings that you're wanting to evoke, not just the actions. There are lots of different ways to arrive at helplessness, begging, being out of control etc etc. Begin with what you know, and let the characters and stories evolve from there.

Keep in mind that you need to make the story believable...make it real. Putting things in a story that you've never personally done can make the story suffer. Trust me, readers who have done things you write about will be able to tell. They can sense fake.

Think of the 50 Shades of Grey series. The author had done NONE of the things she wrote about and so there wasn't any true passion in the story. It was all fake, just like the passion in a romance novel. Sure, some readers will accept it, but the people you want to read it won't, because they'll know it's fake.

You might think you can make it believable, and maybe you can. But it's not easy writing about something you don't believe in or at least totally understand. I can't do it and I'm glad, because I don't even feel the urge to write about things I don't enjoy or things that don't turn me on. Does that channel my stories into a specific vein? Yes, it does. But the following of readers I have know I'm writing honestly about something I've done and something I enjoy.
