Good evening,
I have just submitted my second tale for Literotica admin to review and approve and I was wondering what the requirements were for joining the forum Authors' Hangout? While I have a VERY slim professional portfolio I would like to engage with my peers and learn more of the writing in this particular genre.

If someone could let me know what you need to know from me I would be more than happy to oblige as long as that information doesn't need to include any personal identifying detail.

With deepest respects and many thanks, in advance.

Can you pass a drug test?
If the answer is yes, you'll need to work on that.
Welcome!
(There are no requirements per se, aside from abiding by the site's rules.)

Thank you my (new) friends
I will admit I took a chance and added a couple of discussion replies...
I look forward to learning aspects of the writing craft that I have previously dealt very little with.
Deepest respects,
D.

P.S. Is fine scotch considered a drug Bamagan? In that case no but I'm not an alcoholic LOL

Well, the first requirement is that you be human.

The second is play nice and don't get offended if some posters don't agree with your point of view. Usually they're trying to help.

The third...I guess here aren't any more requirements.

I don't need personal details that could identify an author, but it would be nice to know enough about you that I know who I'm responding to. I'm not talking about the old ASL question from the Chat Room. Just country and male or female would be nice to know.

Good morning Ronde,
Thanks for the heads up... firstly *pinch* Yep, definitely human.
Second, I always play nice, or at least politely.
Thirdly, YAY ME...! I passed the test.

Name's DeMont (here at least) and that's one of the things I like about here. Call me "D" if you like, most of my friends do. Originally from U.K., 30 years in Australia then here to the U.S. in 2013. (I'm a wanderer just like Dion) and the last time I looked down there I'm still male... hence the title.

Pleasure to meet you.

I've been here for a little under two years, and here's what I think the requirements are for hanging out in the Hangout:

Patience for dealing with the same questions that are asked again and again: may I finish someone else's story, will this trigger the "no underage characters" rule, why was my story 1-bombed, how long do I have to wait for my story to be published, why was my story labelled "AI-generated"? And many more.

A tolerance for threads going off-track.

An even higher tolerance for threads going off-track in a series of awful puns.

The requirements are: a screenname, an avatar, and an ego.

The one thing that is not required is an ability to actually write.

In short, you don't have to be Hemingway, you just have to think that you are. ; )

If you want to fit in, do the following ...

1 ~ whine about low scores on your stories
2 ~ whine about low scores on your stories
3 ~ whine about negative comments on your stories
4 ~ brag about positive comments on your stories
5 ~ brag about how you are an expert on writing to category x
6 ~ hotlink (advertise) your own stories as examples of good writing in topics about writing
7 ~ bitch that the admin doesn't do enough to keep trolls away from your stories
8 ~ claim that you are writing well based solely on your high scores
9 ~ deflect any and all critisicm based on your high scores
10 ~ repeatedly write unicorn characters in plotless stories and then claim that you deliver depth in your characters and plots
11 ~ repeatedly write unicorn characters in plotless stories and then flatly deny that you ever pander to the stroke crowd
12 ~ pitch your 'perfect' system to keep trolls away from your stories no matter how much it may damage other aspects of reader interaction, and then roll your eyes at the admin for not implementing it immediately since it is so perfectly brilliant
13 ~ whine about low scores on your stories

We'll need you to sign over your immortal soul. Other than that, you don't even have to have anything posted. It's a place for writers AND readers. Welcome!

Being here is the only requirement.

I also had a thought that you had to be an author to post in this forum, but I was quickly disabused of that notion when I actually started posting here.

Welcome.

I'm not talking about the old ASL question from the Chat Room.
Since we've decided that this thread is officially sidetracked ... What does ASL stand for? I hung out in a lot of chat sites and got asked that from time to time, but never knew what it meant so didn't bother responding. Now that I don't hang out in chat sites, it's time for me to finally ask.

Age / Sex / Location. It's an invitation to doxx yourself.

It is. Many years ago I worked in the marketing data industry. If you had the birthday, sex, and ZIP, you could zero in on the specific individual. Age (birth year) alone would get a 1-in-10 probability, plus or minus, depending on community.

Knowing this, whenever the clerk at the store asked for ZIP, I'd always give them the one from my childhood, far from wherever I lived at the time. Now they ask for phone number, which is a more exact ID than your (US) Social Security Number; it follows you everywhere. I either refuse, or if they insist, to save an argument I give them 314-159-2654 - pi. Living in "Flyover USA", 314 is easily recognized as St. Louis. It has only been questioned once, with a bemused look and chuckle from the young cashier at a Home Depot who must have been a student at the nearby university.

But, @DeMont, remember that if someone posts one of these questions again, it's because they didn't see the earlier ones, and those that respond either didn't see it themselves, or they think it's super interesting. So don't hold back!!

Welcome!
