I don't submit my tales to Literotica... quite happy with keeping them to myself or exchanging occasionally with like-minded writers. Occasionally though I look for an outside judgement from a total non-writer newcomer.
He/she must be friendly and willing to discuss plot, setting and characters at some length. Offering observations and suggestions, not just giving short, dismissive assessments, is what I would find invaluable. Having the time to do this is therefore necessary.
Somebody at home in the (ideally British) English language and with a ready grasp of grammar and spelling would be preferable, i.e. nobody who cannot differentiate between 'to', 'too' and 'two' or who thinks that 'a lot' or 'thank you' can ever be single words.
