Just listening to Andrew Lloyd Weber's Requiem while trimming the Christmas tree. The song "Pie Jesu" is just so incredibly beautiful (especially Sarah Brightman's rendition) that it moves me nearly to tears -- and I don't have a clue what it means. Can anyone translate?

Requim means 'rest'.

Dona eis requiem.. grant them rest.

a poem of mine

I found a heap of great sites that translate. I'll have a look when I'm awake lol and get you a site.

Thanks, DM. I meant the lyrics to "Pie Jesu" (which I should've posted in the first place):

Pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem, dona eis requiem

Pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu

ui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem, dona eis requiem

Latin

Pie Jesu
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem
Agnus Dei
Dona eis requiem sempiternam

English

Merciful Jesus
Who takes away the sins of the world
Grant them rest
Lamb of God
Grant them everlasting rest

THANK YOU, SUGAR!

I love that song. I have an Andrew Lloyd Webber tape somewhere of her singing it. Her voice is just incredible, now I must go find it.
