I'm a new author on the site and have been writing quite casually since this fall. My stories have received very little feedback and I'm wondering if it is because people aren't enjoying them and are leaving. The oldest of the four part series has only 20,000 views and I assume that's probably not many.

If anyone has the time and interest in perhaps doing a quick review I'd appreciate it.

They're classified as nonconsent/reluctance but they have elements that might make them at home in BDSM, Mind Control, Anal or Lesbian. Perhaps categorization is one of my problems?

Just trying to determine whether I should stick to reading instead of writing. Appreciate constructive criticism. Thanks.

Most stories get very little reader feedback on this site, compared with the amount on other sites. Have you thought about using the Story Feedback forum?

Categorisation on Literotica is very crude when compared with other sites where searching with the well known codes is possible (e.g. Mf, inc, bro, sis, hard, etc.); there are many threads complaining about it, but with over 400,000 stories on Lit it would be a Herculean task to codify them.

NO, NO, NO.

Dude!

I think you just might be expecting a little too much from the reading public.
most are here for fast gratification and little else
why would they take the time to help you be a better writer? they could be reading the next jerk off piece in the time it takes to comment.
there are more stories here than anyone could read in a lifetime so they are busy!
be happy you are getting any feedback and that it is positive.

you have two red squarea already. there are some authors who have been posting for years and rarely get them.

I read a lot! and I do mean a lot and I can honestly say that your work is unusual.
you actually have a grasp of the English language and write in English not just using English words. that is quite the novelty sometimes!
not only that but your punctuation isnt bad and you can actually spell!!!
A miracle of modern schooling, what happened did you fall in love with the english teacher and want to please her.
Seriously dude it is rare to find a piece that long with no spelling errors... except for one mad moment you had in chapter 3.
You suddenly had a brain crash and re-christened your leading lady.
the last six times Six! I counted times you mention Jennifers name...opps I mean Jessica you got it slightly wrong.

But that can and does happen to even the most respected of authors on this site.

I often find erros in pieces where the author has given credit to one or two editor/proof readers so do not feel bad about that one tiny SIx TIMES!!! fall from grace.

keep writing I will be watching for the next instalment.

If you want feedback ...

Write REALLY HOT stories about black women who love arrrogant (or not, but the more demanding/aggressive, the better the ratings) white men that will attract the African-American/Brit female reader and you will get DOZENS of feedback! They will even argue with each other on your comment section! And you will build a fanbase, and you will get HUNDREDS of votes! No kidding! (Check it out: Soular, Tangledinyou, Nerd4music and a few others.)

It's an amazing thing to behold. And yeah, I like those stories too!:D Now, if I could just write like that to attract a few more readers who actually like my stories!

Hang in there!

Thanks

I noticed the error in my chapter where I referred to Jessica as Jennifer but the edit request took some time to go through.

Thanks so much for your input.

I've never tried this, but one thing you might want to do is disable the comment board associated with each story. My experience has been that it enables reader laziness: it lets The Reader just jot off a few quick words (often 10 or less) to soothe their consciences, and then scamper off. Now obviously that's all well and good for them, but it isn't great to us who are trying to improve. If you force them to take the trouble of actually drafting an e-mail, you'll 1) weed out the chaff, and 2) quite possibly improve the quality of said e-mails, because now the person actually has to think about it instead of just blindly hitting the "Okay" button. :D (PS, someone please contradict me if they've had different experiences. :))

Second, you might want to consider posting at another venue; there are a number of other publishers and hosts of erotica, ASSTR and SOL being the two that pop to the top of my head. In my experience, people come to Literotica for the same reasons they come to McDonald's: for something quick and familiar. They don't take as much notice of quality or craftsmanship here, because let's face it: that's not what McDonald's is for. And it's not what Lit is for either. If you're trying to be serious about your art here, people will read, yes--they aren't going to shun you or anything. But they probably won't notice the effort you put in. That's not what they're here for. :(

Now, this is not to say that this site lacks a skilled, discerning readership here, who will tell you what you wrote and why it worked (or didn't); that readership does in fact exist. And the good news is, this is where they hang out. :) (I'd offer my own services if noncon/reluc just wasn't my cup of tea.) So, that's the other thing you can do: find an editor here, or post on Story Feedback.

Best of luck to you.
