Oh Dear, VA And PA Republicans Coming To Fisticuffs, How Terribly Dreadful We're Sure!

It's never a bad day for another Gipper Madness story. And today we have two of them for your Friday enjoyment. Who loves ya, baby?

First up, Pennsylvania, where the primary to replace retiring Senator Pat Toomey has already turned into a nasty slapfest.

"Any candidate who wants to win in Pennsylvania in 2022 must be full Trump MAGA," Steve Bannon told Politico, seemingly oblivious of the fact that "full Trump MAGA" was on the ballot in November, and he lost. Other data points include the state's governor, lieutenant governor, and half its congressional delegation, all of whom are Democrats. But Steve Bannon has never been overly preoccupied with the truth, so here we are.

Meanwhile in Virginia, Republicans are so busy knocking the crap out of each other that they can't even figure out how they're going to choose a candidate to run in this year's gubernatorial contest. (Yes, Virginia has off-off year elections, because racism.)

As Northern Virginia gets bluer and bluer, "full Trump MAGA" candidates have crashed and burned in statewide elections. In 2018, Nazi-wannabe Corey Stewart lost the US Senate race to Tim Kaine by a whopping 16 points. The year before that, former RNC stalwart Ed Gillespie tried to immigrant-bash his way into the governor's mansion, only to lose to Ralph Northam by 14 points. But Northam is term-limited out, and the last thing in the world the Virginia GOP wants is another nutjob carrying their banner this year.

Ol' Tweetless has left his legacy in the GQP:D:D:D :D

Sen. Thune Begs GOP: Stop Cancel Culturing Each Other And Go Back To Whining About Liberal Cancel Culture

Ain't it a bitch when cancel culture comes for you! Just when you've come up with this ONE WEIRD TRICK to magically transform yourself into the victim every time someone calls your team out for being a pack of racist psychopaths, that secret weapon comes boomeranging back and smacks you in the face. UNFAIR!

Well, there's only one thing for it. Gotta accuse your opponents of doing cancel cultures to you!

"There was a strong case made," Senate Minority Whip John Thune said of impeachment in an interview with the AP. "People could come to different conclusions. If we're going to criticize the media and the Left for cancel culture, we can't be doing that ourselves."

Trump 'doesn't have to play nice with these people anymore' as he launches war on GOP: report

Despite the best efforts of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to broker a truce this weekend between Donald Trump and the Republican Party, Politico is reporting that the president is about to start a war for control of the future of the party beginning next week.

Even with the bulk of GOP lawmakers defending the ex-president in his second impeachment trial where he was acquitted again, Trump is furious with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and wants to flood the 2022 midterm primaries with a throng of hand-selected candidates who are loyal to him over the party.

According to the report, now that he has been ousted from the White House and isn't dependent on Republican lawmakers to support and defend his pet policies, the ex-president feels no compulsion to suck up to members of his own party.

Tweetless says, "Fuck your feelings!":D :D :D :D

Mitch McConnell sold his soul to Trump -- and now he's trying to bury him: report

According to a report from the New York Times, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would like nothing better than for former President Donald Trump to leave the national stage, retire quietly and spend his days playing golf for the rest of his days at his Mar-a-Lago resort after getting what he wanted out of the ex-president for the past four years.

With Trump making plans to reassert himself within the Republican Party after surviving his second impeachment trial, McConnell is expected to wage a cold war with the former commander in chief as the GOP leader attempts to rebuild a damaged party that just lost the Senate and the White House.

As the Times report notes, McConnell never wanted Trump as the face of the party but -- after being stuck with him following his 2016 presidential win that even McConnell didn't think was possible -- he jumped in bed with him to push through his own agenda.

Who will emerge victorious, Mitch or Tweetless?

Trump's going to be very busy with lawsuits and criminal prosecutions for some time to come.

Donald Trump will destroy the Republican Party — here's how Democrats can help

There is a movement in Congress by Democrats to invoke the 14th Amendment and take away Donald Trump's right to run again for the presidency. Their time would be better spent encouraging Trump to run again.

Simply put, Trump is the most unpopular politician in America. In one term, he managed to lose the presidency, the House and the Senate. No one-term president in American history other than Trump has ever done this. In 2020, he not only ran 7+ million votes behind Biden, he ran 7+ million votes behind the Republican ticket. Behind Republican House and Senate candidates. In 2020, the Republican Party was not repudiated, but Trump was.

For four years, Trump struggled to poll more than 45%, and currently is polling under 40%. By contrast, Biden currently is polling 62%. Trump is toxic and Democrats should welcome another Trump run for the White House. He's the weakest candidate they could ever face.

Just make sure he doesn't face Hillary and they will be golden! :D
