Hello!

I recently posted a story named "Alice" that has been generally well received. However, one reader noticed that I previously posted the story on Usenet several years ago using a different alias. Of course since I used a different alias the reader wonders if I plagiarized the work. I can assure you that I have not. I am the author. However, I'm wondering how I should best handle this situation. Should I include a notice at the top of such stories saying that they have been previously posted under one of my aliases? If so, is there a way to edit a story once it has been submitted (so that I can include such a notice on "Alice")?

My intention was to gather together here at Literotica the various stories that I've written in the past (using a single, stable alias), and then start posting some new works after that. Would this be considered appropriate or should I confine my future posting to entirely new works?

I post (and publish) works elsewhere under another name--because Lit. wouldn't let me register under that name when I started posting here. I take care of it by noting I have two names in my profile everywhere. I still got called on plagiarism on one Web site when I posted a story about a year after doing so on another Web site, under a different name. I simply thanked the person for remembering the story that long and directed them to my profiles that established both names.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. Your advice sounds good. I'll do something similar. In this case my old alias is dead in the sense that I have no way to access it (I previously posted "Alice" over nine years ago). Still Google remembers all so this issue might come up again when I revise and repost a few of my other old stories.

Hi Petrailus, and welcome to the AH.

As long as you hold the copyright on the stories, you can post them anywhere you want, under any name you want. If somebody asks about them, you don't owe any explanation and you can ignore them. Personally, I would explain, rather than getting a reputation as a plagiarist, but that wojuld be up to you.

I have stories posted on two other sites besides this one, and nobody has ever asked about it. Maybe they don't care.
