For all those who know and care....I am not dead, just in hiatus and stranded largely without internet. Sorry I just dropped off the face of the Earth, but it's been a busy few months.

The Mrs. and I have moved out of where we were living in NW Iowa and have moved back to South Dakota so that she can complete her degree in psychology, taking a few classes this semester and hopefully finishing up next December, if not next August during the summer term. The baby is doing superbly, though the little one (we still don't know what it is) hasn't been born yet. My wife is due on the 19th, but the Doc says she can go at about anytime and everything would be okay. For the time being, we're shacking up at my parents' place and I'm continuing to work. We'd have moved permanently up to South Dakota by now, but my insurance at my current job kicks ass and it covers all expences of the child birth, except for a 20 dollar co-pay.

I am still writing. The Cherry Hill project that Red and I were working on has stalled due to me being out of time to write for the most part, but I am working on a few things. My PC is up in So. Dak. so it's a little difficult to do too much on the computers I have access to. Hopefully I'll be back up and running in late December/Early January, but I promise nothing.

I had a little brush with death on Wed, November 30th. Here's the news report:

Clay County Rollover

Friday, 02 December, 2005
By: BP
A Spencer man is hurt in a one car rollover west of town Wednesday evening. The Clay County Sheriff's Office says Kevin Rohan was eastbound on B-24 when his car went off the shoulder, spun around and rolled one-and-a-half times onto its top in the ditch. Deputies say the road was 100-percent snow covered at the time.
Rohan suffered unknown injuries. His car was totalled in the crash. The accident happened in the 16-hundred block of B-24 around 5 o'clock Wednesday

Fuckin' icy roads....it's been 10 years since I've had a car accident, and I guess I made up for lost time. I was wearing my seat belt but, for the most part, fell on my head during the roll before the seat belt could lock. It was a hell of a ride. My back's a little out of whack, but I've been to the chiropracter once about it and we both feel a second time will fix what's left. Other than that, all's well. If anything happened from the shot to the melon I took (235 pounds of me and workboots slamming downward an inch and a half on a very small portion of skull) seems to have improved my handwriting. The car's totaled, and by that, I mean it's fucking done.

Beyond that, all's peachy. I hate moving, but that's done. I hate car shopping, and that's almost done. My wife and I are tired of her being constantly fatigued from pregnancy, and that's all most done. I give it about 2 months and all should be well.

I probably won't respond to this forum note, but if you e-mail me, I'll get those answered.

I'm sorry I didn't get to the gathering. Between moving (that weekend) and everything else that was going on, I just didn't have the time or money available. I was really looking forward to meeting some of you cats and kittens, but we'll have to see if we can't hit the next one. Minneappolis/St. Paul is only 3.5 hours from where we'll be, so if there's one there, it's more plausible that we'll hit it.

Anyway, that's about all for now. Feel free to e-mail me for questions, comments, or concerns.

Take it easy, kids.

Good to hear from you, Dark. And very glad to know your injuries weren't more serious than they were.

Best wishes :rose:

Yes - echo what the goose said.

Take care and congratulations on your soon-to-be newest family member!

All is still well, and thanks for the responces!

I had a little visit with the chiropractor and everything is still fine. Not even many hours of lifting 100+ pounds at work hasn't messed it up yet, so I think I'm pretty good, physically.

Anyone else have a particularly close brush with death by way of car accident? I know had I gone off the north side of the road I'd have gone down into a hollow/slough and I'd have caught a tree dead-center of my car, 40 feet off the ground, and the tree was more than 3 feet in diameter. I'd have died for sure.

*hugs* well talk about if you're going to do something, do it well *L* What a spectacular car boo boo! I'm so gladyou're well though!

Pass mysympathies to your wife, from about a month before I actually had Beth, I was dying to give Birth. I was sooo sick of being pregnant *L*

I'll drop you an email, love. Enjoy your Christmas and take care

Are you apologizing for not being dead? ;)

Partially. I know amicus will be displeased. Thanks for the luck, though! I have a feeling we're gonna need it. I just hope that wreck being as merciful as it was on me didn't tap out the last of the lucky reserve...

Hmm ... yes. Twice, both times when one of my exes was driving. One time we went into a 540° spin down a twisting, slippery mountain road during a storm. The other time we went off another twisting mountain road when a truck suddenly came around the curve, my ex slammed the brakes, the brakes locked and the car ground to a halt in the grass, about half a metre from a 30 meter drop into the river.

Since then I prefer to drive myself. The worst thing that has happened since then was when I backed off a snow drift and it ripped of part of my front fender.

BTW: Good to see everything's alright with you. I know far too many people with relatives dead on the road. It's customary to put up flowers and even little plaques on the sites of road accidents. Tends to be a bit of a grisly reminder when you pass the tenth or twentieth memorial on your regular route. :rose:

Thanks, and quite true. South Dakota marks the sites where people die on roads because of drunk drivers. They started taking them down though....there was one bridge that had over 10 of the little diamonds on it before they took down all but 4 of them.

Luck is a funky thing. It starts from scratch with every dice throw.
