Born in the USA

BORN IN THE USA

Born down in a dead man town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
You end up like a dog that's been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U. S. A, I was born in the U. S. A
I was born in the U. S. A, born in the U. S. A

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U. S. A...

Come back home to the refinery
Hiring man said son if it was up to me
Went down to see my V. A. Man
He said son, don't you understand

I had a brother at Khe Sahn
Fighting off the Viet Cong
They're still there, he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of the penitentiary
Out by the gas fires of the refinery
I'm ten years burning down the road
Nowhere to run aint got nowhere to go

Born in the U. S. A, I was born in the U. S. A
Born in the U. S. A, I'm a long gone daddy in the U. S. A
Born in the U. S. A., born in the U. S. A
Born in the U. S. A, I'm a
cool rocking daddy in the U. S. A

A story off topic:

Got out of the Army in '76 after 6 years and a tour in Southeast Asia. Went down to my local unemployment office to see if there were any jobs available. They had a "Veterans Advisor" so I made an appointment.

When I sat down at his desk I said, "Can you help me get a job?"

His response was, "This is how it works, you go out, find a job opening and I'll recommend you for it."

I found my own job and never went back to get his "recommendation".

There are those in government service that are drones and they like it that way. As long as they can draw the benefits and stay in their position they will. That rule applys from the local government all the way to the top.

Every time someone promotes Born in the USA as some kind of great pro- American anthem I lose a little bit more faith in humanity.

It’s a powerful tune with an anthemic chorus that is easy to pump your fist and sing along to.

Not everyone listens to song lyrics or even bothers with what they say or mean. Just look at all the newlyweds that’ve danced to Every Breath You Take on their wedding day, a song about jealousy, stalking, and treating your wife like chattel.

If it can't be enjoyed on an accordian, it ain't really music.

Far
We've been traveling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
They're coming to America
Never looking back again
They're coming to America
Home, don't it seem so far away
Oh, we're traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and we'll say our grace
Freedom's light burning warm
Freedom's light burning warm
Everywhere around the world
They're coming to America
Every time that flag's unfurled
They're coming to America
Got a dream to take them there
They're coming to America
Got a dream they've come to share
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
Today, today, today, today, today
My country 'tis of thee
(Today)
Sweet land of liberty
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)
Of thee I sing
(today)
(today

All these songs about liberty and freedom...things the "progressive" left fucking HATE.

LOL

james brown's "living in america"

"Living In America"

Yeah, uh! Get up, now!
Ow! Knock out this!

Super highways, coast to coast
Easy to get anywhere
On the transcontinental overload
Just slide behind the wheel
How does it feel

When there's no destination that's too far
And somewhere on the way
You might find out who you are

Living in America
Eye to eye, station to station
Living in America
Hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America
Got to have a celebration
Rock my soul

Smokestack, fatback
Many miles of railroad track
All night radio, keep on runnin' through
Your rock 'n' roll soul
All night diners keep you awake, hey
On black coffee and a hard roll

You might have to walk the fine line
You might take the hard line
But everybody's working overtime

Living in America
Eye to eye, station to station
Living in America
Hand to hand, across the nation
Living in America
Got to have a celebration

I live in America, help me out
But I live in America
Wait a minute

You may not be looking for the promised land
But you might find it anyway
Under one of those old familiar names
Like New Orleans (New Orleans)
Detroit City (Detroit City), Dallas (Dallas)
Pittsburgh P.A. (Pittsburgh P.A.)
New York City (New York City)
Kansas City (Kansas City)
Atlanta (Atlanta)
Chicago and L.A.

Living in America - hit me
Living in America - yeah
I walk in and out
Living in America

I live in America - state lines
Gonna make the prime, that
I live in America - hey
I know what it means, I

Living in America
Eddie Murphy, eat your heart out
Living in America
Hit me, I said now
Eye to eye, Station to station
Living in America
So nice, with your bad self
Living in America - I feel good!
