How may of you are in favor of this?

If you don't know, Rep Jose Serrano-NY (Dem) has proposed a resolution to repeal it.

I wonder how truthful the leftside of this forum will be...

I wouldn't mind its repealing if there was actually a President that I liked. So far in my life, there hasn't been one.

The truth is, Serrano's been proposing a repeal every two years since 1997 - no matter who's in office.

Facts can be fun...

It's interesting that very few people knew of Mr. Serrano's earnest attempts in years past. Call me cynical, but maybe the media has decided to champion the idea now BECAUSE OF WHOM IS IN OFFICE.

You're a fool. Are you not? "Aren't", retard.

I'll tell you what, fuckwit. Let's make a nice little bet. I've got $1,000.00 that says that not only will the 22nd Amendment not be repealed by 2016, but Obama will not be elected to a third term.

Now - either you have the courage of your conviction and take the bet, or you're a gibbering douchebag that hasn't an idea what he's babbling about - and yet still opens his festering gob to spew a bunch of shit that he picked up on some even more moronic website.

What's wrong with you?

I am of the opinion that many folks would like to see the current President serve more than eight years. Do you disagree with that? This includes posters in this forum. I fear that the cultural elite in America would relish a perpetual Obama.

I believe that the Presidential term limit was a wise amendment to the Constitution.

Moreover, I would like to see all Federal offices (including the judiciary) term limited.

Take it or leave it.

You can read minds then is what you're saying?

Conviction about what? I never suggested it would actually happen. In fact, I agree with you.The 22nd Amendment will not be repealed. Obama will not be elected to a third term.

This doesn't change my opinion that there are those, beyond the esteemed Congressman from the Bronx, that would love for BOTH things to become reality.

It also doesn't change my opinion that there are elements of the media that are eager to advance the notion.

Perhaps, the choice of word "King" affronts.

In regard to the rest of your post. I am using a keyboard on a computer. I am not speaking, babbling or spewing anything from my mouth. However, you are such a retard so as to not know the difference. Are you not? Not "aren't you" as in "are not you." Retard...

I've been on record here for years as being against term limits in all cases where those in question face elections (I think we might have to re-examine lifetime appointments for federal judges). I've felt this way under presidents of both parties, back in 2009 when both houses of Congress were controlled by Democrats (http://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=31503716&postcount=6), and today when the House is controlled by Republicans.

If you want to accuse me of feeling that way only because Obama is President, I really could give two shits.

Nope, I think two terms is plenty for President. If it's altered then it should be to limit congresspersons to two terms as well. The judiciary should be left as is, the country needs some consistency when laws are interpreted, changing out judges too often could lead to problems.

What? Not the answer you expected from the "leftside"?

Fair enough.

Don't ever bitch about gerrymandering though.

I am pleased with your (Presidential) response.

I disagree totally about the judiciary for the precise reason you seem to favor it, interpretation.

Interpretation should be minimized and merits of a legal matter dependent totally on the wording of the law or statute as constructed.

You are examining symptoms.

Who and how long are now only minor matters akin to striking up the band and arranging the deck chairs...

Congressmen should have a limit of 8 years (4 terms)

Senators should be reduced to 4 year terms and have a limit of 12 years.

The president should be limited to 1 six year term.

After someone is out of office, they will receive no more pay or benefits.

What do term limits have to do with gerrymandering?

Gerrymandering is the direct result of abuse of power by party.

The party is ruled, most often, by those with the longest length of elected service.

It's a dangerous combination.

The CCP operates the same way minus the election by the citizens part.

I believe we'd see much less abuse of power by party IF those that represented it (and supposedly us) weren't allowed to build and maintain machinery of control. Simply stated, if we turned members of Congress out more frequently I believe it would be more difficult to gerrymander.

There have been some great long term legislators but I submit there are more that became professionally bankrupt.
