The ultra-wealthy are starting to get a bit worried that the masses are on to them. The fact that many of the white working poor are joining with the movement has most likely led to this appeasement effort. Make no mistake though, everything possible will still be done to maintain the status quo behind the scenes. I would agree with those who say it's a publicity stunt. If meaningful steps aren't taken to address gross wealth disparity, and wage imbalance, this act of"reparation" is akin to putting a band-aid on a severed artery.

They get the most bang for their goodwill publicity buck, and use it as a shield against unfair practices they're currently engaging in.

Distract and deflect. Standard operating procedure. People need to keep their eye on the ball when it comes to past and present crimes of corrupt individuals and corporations.

I think that xenophobia and racism are alive and well in parts of the US.

As much as they are in any part of humanity.

PEOPLE are bigots and that's NEVER going away.

But unlike in many country (at least for the moment) the US itself is not a racist institution.

We all follow the same laws, my dollar spends EXACTLY the same as a white mans dollar.

I have all the same rights, privileges and responsibilities that a white man has....THANK YOU America and it's radically liberal founding fathers for creating such a fantastic place for minorities and immigrants like my family and I to prosper in.

What do I get? My grandparents were French but I’m dark I have Tunisian ancestry. What do I get, I live in the US. I mean since we aren’t going on facts and all I just want to know. I mean only like half of American blacks are related to slaves. What about if your black and your family owned slaves? Do native Americans have to pay since they owned slaves, then when slavery was abolished the took them into their Tribe and recently kick them out. Oh and I heard some democrat say America invented slavery. I bet the romans and oh the Egyptians think they pulled a fast one since they had slaves thousands of years ago. So what do I get. Oh in some African country they tried reparations and took farmland from white farmers and gave it to blacks. That didn’t really turn out so well, Famine isn’t so good So they had to give farmland back to the white farmers. So let’s not do anything like that. So what do I get?

Are both sets of grandparents French? Find that out and report back with any new information.
