From the FAQ:I need to remove a story. (They botched the formatting.) How is that done?
You could also submit an edit to correct the formatting of the story. How did it get messed up?Submission Removal Instructions
- For security purposes and to make sure the author is actually the one making the removal request, you must log into your account to remove a published work.
- Create a new story submission titled “REMOVE”. In the body of the submission, put the names of the published submissions you wish removed along with (optionally) the reason for their removal.
- If you want all of your work removed, you can write “DELETE ALL” in one form rather than listing every submission by name.
- If you want all of one series removed, you can write “DELETE [SERIES NAME]” in one form rather than listing every submission by name.
An edit takes the same amount of time as a deletion.I need to remove a story. (They botched the formatting.) How is that done?
The "mobile friendly" view mode removed some of the section breaks and makes it impossible to follow. Looks correct in the "classic" view mode. From the FAQ:

Submitted in Word. No html. The "mobile friendly" view mode removed some of the section breaks and makes it impossible to follow. Looks correct in the "classic" view mode.An edit takes the same amount of time as a deletion.
What formatting did you try to use? The site has a default style: left justified, right ragged, no paragraph indents, standardised font. Basic html is allowed, but if you cock up the html it can go badly wrong.
If the formatting is "botched", that could be on you, not the site.
There's a recent bug that seems to do that. The "mobile friendly" view mode removed some of the section breaks and makes it impossible to follow. Looks correct in the "classic" view mode.
That is nice. The "mobile friendly" view mode appears to have removed some of the section breaks that makes it impossible to follow. (So, for example, X is talking to Y in location Z and suddenly A is talking to B in location C). Looks correct in the "classic" view mode.30 second scroll through scan, I don't see any obvious formatting issues.
I see. I used something close. I used ** and *** (depending on how long the break was). Mobile-friendly mode seems to have removed some (but not all) of these. That renders the story unfollowable in places. Such a bummer. There's a recent bug that seems to do that.
What formatting did you use for section breaks?
While the bug exists, you might want to submit an edit that uses something simple like this:
*****
as the section break. It might not be ideal, but it works.
Were they centered or left justified (as in just typed in)?I see. I used something close. I used ** and *** (depending on how long the break was). Mobile-friendly mode seems to have removed some (but not all) of these. That renders the story unfollowable in places. Such a bummer.
May I suggest that you edit your profile to put a note up the top to read your story in 'classic' mode? Not all readers will see the note, but the advantage of doing that is that it's under your control and will be fairly timely. Then you can submit an edit to simplify the breaks, which will be processed at some stage in the next few weeks or so.I see. I used something close. Center. Were they centered or left justified (as in just typed in)?
Do they come back on a page that was reloaded?
There was a bug about centered section breaks that I went on a long tirade about a short time ago. (That thread is here.) I thought they had fixed it, but I only checked on my computer, not on my phone. I did them to push through an immediate edit for me on one story that was, like yours apparently, rendered essentially unreadable with most of the section breaks gone.
Can you also submit a problem report mentioning your story specifically and pointing at one of the breaks that disappears? Frustratingly, despite there being a field in the problem report to being notified by them (presumably Mani in this case), you will almost certainly never get a response. That lack of communication is the overall number one complaint by most people here.
We’re all just posting the vanity pressings here. I fully understand wanting to walk away from the rendering issue, but I hope you’ll stayCenter.
Maybe. Or I can remove and submit elsewhere. It's just a vanity pressing.
Aha! Already did that. (Does anybody read profiles?)May I suggest that you edit your profile to put a note up the top to read your story in 'classic' mode? As others have hinted, it's better to avoid 'they' statements. The site is constructed out of strings and wire and is run by two people who somehow manage to keep the machine more or less running. Formatting issues are just one of the special features![]()
They didn't fix it. The section breaks in my story are still gone in certain spots, but they come back after a reload. I am checking it from a PC. I've no idea how the story displays on a mobile device. Were they centered or left justified (as in just typed in)?

In my submission, on my mobile device and in "mobile-friendly" mode, they come back after a reload. They didn't fix it. Interesting. Mt test case was fixed. Not the one I described to them, so I figured it was fixed. Silly me.They didn't fix it. Good on you. I usually read profiles of other authors if they link to them in their forum signature (HINT, HINTAha! Already did that. (Does anybody read profiles?)
