Today is September 11th.

Remember the many lives that were lost on this day. Dont forget the loved ones, that were left behind. They were and always will be in my heart and in my prayers.

This is a nice tribute GoldenEyes, and it's nice to see that you haven't forgotten the "survivors" as well as those that died.

I posted this earlier today on the GB...

I can't imagine the horror felt by people who knew they were going to die, and were helpless to prevent it.

The agony of receiving a phone call from a loved one in a plane about to crash or a building about to crumble.

The pain of losing a loved one who died trying to save others.

Those people, and their pain will live with me for ever.

Thank you so much LB

Just watching the early news this morning, listening to the radio. I had tears in my eyes. My heart just breaks for those loved ones that were left behind. Some of the stories I had heard on the radio were so sad. Opening my arms and holding all them close to my heart today. Esp. the children

9/11

as some of my friends know, I visited ground zero on Thanksgiving weekend last year while my wife and i were in NYC
It was the most moving experience of my life.
this morning, I wrote a poem about it.
I hope no one minds if I post it here
it was written with tears.

Re: 9/11

Lost Septembers

Do they hear me?
The souls of lost September
Ensconced in their earth eternal.

Do my tears wash their hearts?
As memory inveigles the mind,
Recollections of despair,
Disbelief,
Disarray.

A year on I came
To stand,
To touch,
And to cry
Smoke and dust filling senses

Names
So many names.
I knew them not,
And yet, they are my brothers
My sisters
My life.

Silence
Reverent whispers in solitude
And my heart,, here to lay, evermore.

I will return
For you are me
I am you
And September be our dawn.

BD... that's a very sensitive and touching poem sweetheart. It says so much without being flowery.

Thank you for sharing it.

BD, Great poem.

LB, Wonderful thoughts.

GE, Thanks for starting this.

When I remember them, I do remember my brother's friend who was on the 82nd floor talking to a buddy in Boston. The phone went dead......... The rest is as they say history. I also remember the others, the ones in the Pentagon, the ones who prevented more tragedy by bringing their plane down in a field in PA. For all the families and all the friends I pray. Most of all I pray for respsect to start the road to love.

It seems to me that the Irish seem to have taken a step back now and things are more peaceful there; It is that or the news coverage isn't what it used to be. I pray that those in the middle east can realise that death is not the answer.

A song for people everywhere
Where have all the flowers gone?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing...
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago...
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls picked them every one.
When will they ever learn?
Oh when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing...
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago...
Where have all the young girls gone?
Gone to husbands every one.
When will they ever learn?
Oh when will they ever learn?

Where have all the husbands gone?
Long time passing...
Where have all the husbands gone?
Long time ago...
Where have all the husbands gone?
Gone to soldiers every one.
When will they ever learn?
Oh when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing...
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago...
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to flowers every one.
When will they ever learn?
Oh when will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing...
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago...
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls picked them every one.
When will they ever learn?
Oh when will they ever learn?

Peace to the world.

GOD BLESS NY AND ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO FOUGHT
AND DIED THERE ON 9/11
AND GOD BLESS THE FAMLIES THAT HAVE CONTINUED TO FIGHT
AND MAKE A LIFE FOR THEM SELVES TO THIS DAY..

A view from the apt.

I have a very good friend in NY. His apartment has a view of WTC plaza -- or what's left. I have attachmented one of my pics. It was very close to one year later. (WTC1.jpg has an interesting siloette of the flag and although it doesn't have as good of a view the image is interesting.) I'll also send a second pic that has a better view -- WTC2.jpg.)

If you didn't make a pilgramage to the site, let me tell you, it was an intense feeling to see the the memorial things and the other pilgrams. I will ALWAYS remember.

BEM... your tune just slammed me right down memory Lane... Here's another that popped into my head as I sat eating my Birthday cake for breakfast and watching Katie Couric and heard/saw this whole surreal event the first time... It's still relevant...

The Eastern World
It is explodin'
Violence flarin'
Bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill
But not for votin'
You don't believe in war
But what's that gun you're totin'
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'

But you tell me over, and over, and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Don't you understand what I'm tryin' to say
And can't you feel the fears I'm feelin' today
If the button is pushed, there's no runnin' away
There'll be no one to save
With the whole world in a grave
Take a look around you boy,
It's bound to scare you boy

And you tell me over, and over, and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Yeah, my blood's so mad
Feels like coagulatin'
I'm sittin' here, just contemplatin'
I can't twist the truth
It knows no regulation
Handful of senators don't pass legislation
And marches alone can't bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin'
This whole crazy world
Is just too frustratin'

And you tell me over, and over, and over again my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

And think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
Ah you may leave here for four days in space
But when you return it's the same old place
The poundin' of the drums
The pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace
Hate your next door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace

But you tell me over, and over, and over, and over again my friend
You don't believe we're on the eve of destruction
No, no, you don't believe we're on the eve of destruction

Nice pics, Zeb... but there's nothing like being there...

It is indeed a sad day...my thoughts and prayers are with the families and survivors of that tragic day.
At the moment it happened I was in the hospital very ill..but I remember seeing the newscast and not believing it...I thought at first that it was some kind of movie..
then when I did comprehend what had happened,,all I could do was cry and ask God why..but of course there are no answers..only the chance now to move forward...but never to forget.....:rose: for all.

Praise for all our military who defend us against these things happening in our future.....my son Sgt. US AIR FORCE..

I feel that its important today,to tell all my friends at LIT how much they mean to jenny and I. Thank you for your friendship.

If I knew

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Nice pics, Zeb... but there's nothing like being there...

Thanks Boo,
You also reminded me of One tin soldier.

Isn't it amazing how so many songs that have been asking for peace still mean as much today as they did then.

I mean We didn't start the fire but just Imagine if we let it end. War what is it really good for?

Wouldn't it be incredible if the world could hear that Amazing Grace that would lead us to say, "...Yeah though I walk through the valley of darkness, I fear no evil. He (she, it or whatever) makes me layeth down by the river in Green Grass..." then maybe we could all just have a picnic.

Respect it is what we must Teach your(our) children well. we have to start and that we have started we must continue, because Love is the answer and that has to be given and accepted.

We need to learn for by learning we can remove fear, and as Yoda said, "Fear leads to anger; Anger leads to hatred, and Hatred leads to the Dark Side." Isn't it interesting that we can generate legions of armies to fight for good, and yet evil can only handle two a master and a student. Isn't it even more interesting that just one man who lived 2000 years ago can still remind us of how life could be.

Thanks again Boo.

Stand with us Father, our eyes are deceived
Horrors before us we cannot conceive
All to Manhattan the world's eyes did turn
Along with our fury the towers did burn.

All through the city went out the alarm
Firemen and comp'nies ran straight into harm
Precincts and ambulances to the scene
All understanding the danger it means.

First word from victims from stairways they fled
"Jakes" with their hoses climbed upward instead
Bravery not seen since on Normandy's shores
Upward they charged to the fiery floors.

Only to heal and to comfort they toiled
The plans of the doctors and officers spoiled
When from on high came a tremendous roar
Two towers and six thousand souls were no more.

Also in Washington hell from the skies
Smoke filled the air while the tears filled our eyes
Aloft was a gloriously mutinous lot
Who saved untold numbers when boldly they fought.

Let none forget you our tragically lost
Let us bear witness to freedom's great cost
Who test our mettle let these words be clear
Cowards cannot make America fear.

Tall from the tangle of steel and of stone
Proudly the Stars and the Stripes they are flown
O'er every color and creed it did wave
The land of the free and the home of the brave.

Peace to the world.

Buggy I did not know anyone personally but feel for all the families of those who were lost. The song you put here....I love it, I remember singing it when I was young. Had not thought of it for quite awhile. You know they say that history repeats itself. Well hopefully, some day we will learn from these events and be able to NOT let history repeat itself. I think that this was a big wake up call. I, like so many other Americans took freedom for granted. Yes, I knew that men had to go to war and fight for our freedom, but I never thought that innocent people would be loss in this "war" on OUR land. To me, war was always soldiers going off to other countries, not here. I think that it brought out alot of patriotism and people opening up and loving and showing the ppl in their lives how much they loved them. Not only can we not forget those lost and the events of 9/11/01 we must also remember that life is short and very uncertain so don't wait, tell them you love them and most of all SHOW them. And I think we all need to have a little more patience with other cultures, it might not be what we like or believe, etc... but we are all God's children and like the old song says. What the world needs now is Love.

To all my friends here at Lit.........I LOVE YOU! We will never forget! There are so many beautiful pics here and thank each and everyone here who posted them. And to those that have loved ones in the service my thoughts and prayers are with you and them. I have a cousin who is a navy seal.
