It was a hot summer day, and Jaza had finnaly mannaged to escape the watchful eye's of her step mom, to wander threw the woods. She new of a secret pond where the sunlight hit the water just right, with trees and shade in all the right places, it was a very quiet and beautiful spot. She had found it about a year ago, it looked as tho no one had been there in age's. It was her own specal place to go, and escape from everyday life.

Things just hadnt been the same sence her father had been killed by what the villager's had called an evil presents. She had heard the stories about Fairy's, and Elves and other beings in the woods just as the other villager's had, but she had yet to meet any. She was 18 and had yet to wed, none of the villager's appealed to her, and it was really beginnig to frustrate her step mother.

Jaza is a half elf. Her mother was an elf who had been abandoned by her people when she reolized she was with child. The only way they would allow her to return was to leave her child with its human father... To protect his daughter her father never told anyone including Jaza where she came from. Only that she had been left on their door step to raise.

Jaza stood about 5ft 4in, and weighed around 120lbs, she is slender of build, with cerves in all the right places, her breasts a little large for her frame, but not as huge as most women in the village, or as small as some of the younger maids.

Her hair when braided reached down to the middle of her back, it was long thick, and black in color. Her eyes were an unuasul shade of purple, or amithist, and her skin was tanned from being outdoors, and her ears were slightly pointed.

Most of the women of the village, made fun of her and called her many names, and Jaza did her best to ignore them. What did she care what they thought. So she was a little diffrent.

Arriving at the pond, Jaza sat down her basket of herb's that she had been gathering, and begain to disrobe, stepping out of the pesant clothing she was made to wear she carefuly folded them, and sat them with her basket on a near by stump.

Unwinding her hair from its braid, she began to slowly walk out into the water. It was cool against her warm fleash causing her nipples to harden. The water felt so good, she begain to relax and swim around. She wanted to enjoy as much of the little time she had, before she returned to her stepmother's home, and work. I wonder if there really are such things as Fairy's or Elve's. She said closing her eyes and enjoying the feel of the water and sun on her skin.

Lorne sat on a brach over the water. The leaves hiding his form from the girl below. The elf normally did not spy on humans, but this one was different from the cows of the village.

She was beautiful, just looking at her Lorne could see that she had Elven blood inside her. Leaning down he smiled and watched her. It wasn't often half children happend, but they did.

Pulling the flute from his dark red leather coat and began to play a soft tune. The music filled the air and seemed to make the plants and water come alive and glow.

The look on her face as it happend brought a smile to his lips. Maybe he could tempt her back to his realm.

Lorne was 6'2 with jet black hair and sky-blue eyes. his ears ending in the classic point of elves.

Jaza opened her eyes and looked around in awe at the lake and plants as they seemed to come alive with each note of the beautiful music filling the air. In all the times she had come to the lake before this hadnt happend but she wasnt afraid it called to something in her blood. She tryed looking for the source of the music but saw no sign of who ever or what ever it was that caused it.

Moving out of the lake she sat down on one of the large rock's around the ponds edge enjoying the beautiful music and letting the sun dry her hair and body before she dressed. Knowing that if she went home with her hair wet her stepmother would come up with another punsihment for her to indure.

Seeing that she was leaving Lorne pulled a leaf and held it in his palm until it turned silver and said the words, 'Come back tomorrow.'

He then sent it floating towards her making sure it would catch the light and thus her attention. Lorne would come back tomorrow and hopefully so would she.

"I'll see you tomorrow, pretty one." He stood and turned taking the path back to his home.

Lorne stepped out of the human realm and back in his own bedroom. Looking at the mirror he waved his hand and the portal closed. He set his flut down upon the table before waving his hand to be able to watch the girl as she left the lake.

He sat back upon his bed. The elf was curious as to how his beauty lived. What was her life liked? Did her elfen parent live in that realm?

Jaza held the little silver leaf that had floated down to her close, before slipping it into her herb basket to hide it from her stepmother. Looking at the sky she new she had stayed at the pond to long.

Where have you been i've been looking for you. Jaza heard her stepmothers voice as she made her way up the steps into the Inn. I was gathering herbs that we needed for the food. .. Her step mother looked at the basket and knocked it from her hands.

All day.. and that is all you found how do you expect me to take care of this place now that your father is gone.. Get to work there are customers that need there food now.. Jaza dropped to her knees to pick up the herbs knowing that her step mother would see the silver leaf if she didnt get it first. She didnt have a chance her step mother grabbed her arm and the silver leaf shoving her back twords the counter.

Jaza new that she was in more trouble but she also new that her stepmother would wait until the customers were gone before punnishing her unless Jaza pushed her further. Picking up a tray with food and ale she carried it over to one of the tables and began surving.

Once the customers left or went upstairs to there rooms for the night Jaza begain cleaning up the tables and counters. Only to feel the Crack! of her stepmothers hand across her cheek. Where did you get this?? She yelled holding up the leaf for Jaza to see. It came to me... She said telling the simple truth.

Lorna was displeased at what he saw. It was obvious the older woman did not favor her. And seeing her getting hit hand him getting to his feet. On the one hand the elf was upset that he was the cause of her trouble.

And on the other he was furious at the woman for getting upset over a tiny leaf. His hands were balled into fists as he watched. He wanted to see how far this went, before he intervined.

Elves were supposed to stay out of human affairs, but this was of his making and thus the girl wa sis responsibility.

No more herb gathering for you not until i say so.. I'll by the herbs from Tomas for now. You will help Anna and Roslen with the customers or i'll have you wipped. her stepmother said crushing the leaf in her hand. Now find your pallet and get some sleep before i change my mind and wip you anyway. Jaza stood doing her best not to let her stepmother see the anger in her eyes knowing that it would earn her a beating if she did. She slipped by her stepmother and went to find her pallet.

While she lay there she wondered if she should go to the pond on the morrow or not. Jaza new that she would have gotten in trouble even without the silver leaf, because she hadnt brought back enough herbs.

It wouldnt matter if she did everything that Roslen and Anna told her or not . They would find something to tell her stepmother and she would get in trouble anyway's so she may as well do something to deserve it... She never would understand why they didnt like her at least when her father was alive she had some form of protection.

Lorne knew it was wrong of him to do this but he touched the glass and said, "I am sorry i got you in trouble today, lovely one. I just wanted to give you a gift."

It was obvious her life there was not pleasant. Why did she stay? Being of Elven blood she could come to his realm. Some of the old laws and creeds had been repeelled. Including the abandoment of half human children.

"Come to the Lake tomorrow and I shall take you away if you wish." Lorne watched her face to see if maybe she would not come. He was determined to get to know her and to bring her to a place where she would be loved.

Jaza lay there a moment not sure if she heard the words or had immagned them. She had already planed to go to the lake. Maybe she was just tired, but as she closed her eyes to go to sleep she awncred. Thank you for the gift.... I will come to the pond, but i have no where else to go.

"Yes you do. Sleep and in the morning we will see each other." Lorne took his hand off the mirror and watched her sleep. He knew he was most likely going to get yelled at for this plan of his, but it was worth it.

Turning he saw his his mother standing in the doorway. She just smiled and said nothing as she walked away. Lorne closed his door and stripped down before he climbed into his own soft bed and slept.

The girl was in his dreams the entire night, he was unable to shake her from his dreams.

The next moring Jaza did what she was asked to do waiting for the right moment to slip away unnoticed. Making her way to the pond she new she was going to be in trouble but she didnt care. Rosla had already started in when she woke up deciding that she had slept to long even tho she was up before they were.

Jaza foud the pond and sat down on the large rock she had the day before waiting to see if the voice she had heard had been in her imagination or real. As she looked at the water she begain to relax enjoying the sounds of the plants and animals around her.

Lorne stepped through the portal this time though comming out beside her and he said spoke softly. "Good Morning lovely one."

The elf bowed and smiled at her. "I am glad you came. You may call me Lorne." He watched her face for her reaction. It wasn't often that Elves crossed the realms so he wasn't even sure if she knew of her blood.

His flute was tucked inside the pocket of his shirt. He wore dark blue this day to off-set his eyes. Up close she was radiant, even if she was half human.

Jaza jumped when he came thru some sort of door next to her. She stood and looked at him. She recognized his voice from the night before and begain to relax some. You gave me the leaf? She asked feeling her question rather silly because she already new the awncer. Jaza thought that Lorne was very handsome and was surprised when he bowed to her not many would do such a thing especally sence she was a pesant. Thank you for the leaf... I am afriad i dont have it any longer but thank you it was beautiful. My name is Jaza

"Jaza, its a beautiful name." Stepping closer to her he said, "Its ok. I can make more. I just wanted to see if you would came back." Taking a seat on the other rock he said, "I am sorry I got you in trouble yesterday."

Seeing the surprised look on her face he nodded, "I watched you yesterday. I wanted to see how you lived. You are the first half elf I have seen in many years, and I was curious."

Jaza blushed when he said her name was beautiful and was truly surprised that anyone would want to know how she lived. He must think her very foolish, but looked at him a truly confused how could she be a half elf??

Sitting back down she thought about what he had said. Was it possable? It could be her father had said she was left for them on the step to raise....If i am what you say i am why was i left with... where i am? She asked.

Lorne was surprised. "You're father was human I take it. There was a time when half elven children were left with thier human parents. The mothers were not allowed to keep thier children."

"It was an evil aw that was finally disallowed. If you want I can show you where you mother lived, and possibly still does." Lorne was upset that she had been told she had been found.

No elf would just place thier child with strangers.

Jaza wasnt sure how she felt .. Her mother alive.. that possability had never crossed her mind before she had always assumed that her parents had died.
Looking over at Lorne Jaza said. I am sorry i truly dont know what to think. If i really am what you say then i would love to see my mother there are so many questions but wouldnt their be others who would still feel the same about half breads? Would it be safe?

"There are few, but you will be safe with me Jaza. I wouldn't let anyone hurt you ever again." Standing he walked over and brushed a strand of hair from her face. "The choice is yours I can't make it for you." He held his hand out to her.

Lorne knew she would not want to return to this place after one day in his world. Smiling the elf knew he could make her want to stay. His first plan though was to get her a new dress.

Jaza paused a moment waiting to be struck and then felt foolish. He wasnt her stepmother he wouldnt hurt her. She closed her eyes and took simple pleasure in the feel of him brushing her hair from her face. Thinking about her choices the unknown or what she had now. There wasnt anything here for her except pain. With a small sigh she said I'll go with you Opening her eyes she looked up into his eyes and taking his offerd hand stood up to go with him.

"Thank you Jaza." Lorne led her over to the door, though it did just look liek that same background as before. Stepping through he said, "It's all right, trust me."

Loren led her through. They came through in the middle of the market. There were elves and faires going about, they didn't seem to notice them at all. Looking at her answered her unasked question, "I brought you here first to buy you a new dress."

Everything on this side looked the same as her realm, but the sky seemed to be bluer and the air clearer.

Jaza didnt know what to think things looked the same but it somehow was more beautiful... Hearing him say that he was going to buy her a new dress made Jaza blush she looked away a moment before looking back at him and said. I have no way to repay you.. If its alright i dont mind staying in the clothing i have on now. He gave her a comonation look of apology and dont worrie about it its ok, before leading her over to one of the stalls near by. The dresses were lovely but she new there was no way she could choose so allowed him to do so for her.

Lorne selected a dark burgandy dress as well as the matching shoes. Paying the she elf he asked, "Is there somehwere she can change?"

"Of course. Just behind the curtain." She held the curtain back for Jaza to change behind.

Lorne watched her go shyliy. it was obvious she had never received such a gift before. He would change all that. The girl deserved only the best, and he would give it to her.

Jaza stepped behide the curten and begain to change. Removing her corse pesant clothing and what was left of her sandles folding them and laying them on the bench next to her.

Picking up the burgendy gown she slipped it on, asking the elven lady to help her with the back. Slipping into the shoes she quickly ran her fingers thru her hair, and rebraided it. Turning so that the elven lady could see her face Jaza stopped as the women gave her a look Jaza didnt see often.

It was a combination of awe and pride. She was about to step out when the lady sat her down undoing her braid and ran a comb thru it. She restyled Jaza's hair using two silver combs to hold the sides up out of her face.

Once she was finnished Jaza Picked up her pesants clothing and carried them in her arms as she stepped out from the curtin, and watched as the elven lady went to speak with Lorne letting him know that she was done.

"You really know how to choose dresses, my lord. She looks so gorgeous."

Lorne turned and watched as Jaza stepped out, she looked os different. "I always said you were beautiful, and now it shows even more." He smiled and said, "Kora will dispose of the dress and sandals. That is if you don't want to go home. Otherwise Kora will hold them for you."

Jaza blushed having heard the elven ladys words, and handed her pesants clothing to her. I dont think i will be needing them anymore. Thank you for the combs. Turning back to Lorne she said Thank you too. i know you dont have to do this and i wanted to let you know that i am glad your giving me a chance. Taking his hand again a smile lighting her eyes for the first time in a very long time she let him lead her where he would.
