I noticed that too. The people in question have been accused, but never convicted. They might be innocent of any wrongdoing at all.

At the same time, I have heard it said that patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels. Maybe so, but religion is probably a more popular refuge.

More than one scoundrel has wrapped him/herself in clerical robes and gone to excel in depravity. This may or may not be such a case. As Box pointed out, allegations are not convictions. Rumor is not evidence.
