To address what NS said in the BrandiTroll thread...

I don't know ANY Wiccans who could be said to believe in what Christianity teaches.. and I know quite a few. I in fact designed a tattoo for a Coven and got to know the High Priestess quite well. None of them follow anything remotely Christian, they're all your typical Witchy folks. I DO know a fair number of Christian Witches as well.

That said there are MANY Similarities to Christianity and other organized religions including Wicca. They ALL differ and yet they all seem to run a parallel course.

The Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit ...
The Maiden, The Mother and The Crone

For one example...I could list them all day, but I won't.

What in the world is that?

circe!

Christians who use and practice magic and ritual the way a Witch would but for and by God.

You are right Angel, there are many similarities in all of the anciant and modern mythologies.. and I'm sorry if I might have offended you in that thread, but most of the Wiccans I know here are also Christians in belief.. and it does piss me off that they try to mix the two religions into one.. ESP when Witches have been around for Centuries and the Wiccan religion started up in the 1960's..

And non-Christian Witches do it for who?

I just perused the other thread...

What's that about Wiccans being Xian? I'd have to really beg to differ there. And hower messed up that Witch hunter troll may be, he was correct about the warlock stuff, as far as I know.

And Xtian witches? Witches following the bible? How do they "suffer themselves to live?"

Maybe I should have elaborated, instead of such a general explanation, but that was the best way I thought to put it.

No they are Christians using spellcasting, and ritual.

It is simalar to the Star Wars corilation with Cristianity.. When the first movie came out it was PAGAN and against Christianity and was put on a band list for them.. now they are saying that Star Wars was Created from the stories in the bible and has a true Christan sence about it..

Now My Question is.... Is Star Wars a Pagon Movie like they first said it was or is it based of the teaching in the Bible like they now say it is??

It depends on the Witch...

Wiccans traditonally celebrate a pantheon of gods and goddesses.

It depends on what branch/trad you follow.

Some are atheists or agnostic.

Some do it for themselves.

I think it's a fantasy world. I honestly don't think it was meant to be based on any damn religious belief. It's a dream world, with it's OWN dream way of life..

I've seen it debated on Wiccan and Pagan Boards...

... but it still bewilders me to have Christians doing spells, rituals and stuff that the bible forbids.

Weird, weird world...

I'd think of it as them being openminded and realizing that what is right for an individual cannot be dictated by a book or men in robes who speak italian and latin. :D

Hang on, an atheist witch? Not to make a blanket statement or anything, but atheists in the popular sense generally don't believe in ANY supernatural forces. Technically, an atheist is someone who doesn't believe in any gods, but then you could call a Theravada Buddhist or a Jain an atheist, which I think they might object to.

But then why

do they remain in a religion which is indeed dictated by men in robes, a pretty narrow-minded book, and prohibs what they are doing? Why not lose the Christian part and be freely and simple Witches?

I would think that if one would label themselves a Witch and an Atheist, then that is what they would be.

I don't like labels personally, yet that would be the simple way for me to describe my belief system without writing a 30 page essay.

Because they believe in God and Christ? I'm not one, but I'm only basing what I'm telling you on what I have read/heard.

If there is a Christian Witch out there who could explain it better, please do. In the meantime I will look for the URL to a friend's site, then post it for you if you want a better explanation..

"How do you know she's a witch?"

"Woh, she turned me into a newt!"

Why does that piss you off?

Just curious...

About Star Wars......people read into things too goddamn much....if you'll see that all religions are a reflection of the human inability to deal with a lack of explaination, than Star wars should be notably deemed, simply, as an epic story of the battle of good over evil.....not whose religion it reflects or whose beliefs it curtails.....

George used a great deal of cultural variety in his story, without any specific 'religious' implications...The Jedi philosophy and religion barely reflects any known religion that exists or has in human history.........That is why I have been training to become a Jedi... I am nearing the trials and am getting kind of nervous...must stave off my feelings!

Oh and just to make a point... in the beggining of Christianity...the Christians where the Pagans...if you'll remember correctly.

Actually, the term "Jedi" and some of the philosophy surrounding it stems from medieval Japanese culture. Whoa, deja vu.
