Rejection impasse

I am writing a rather lengthy story so it's necessary to break it up into chapters. I submitted chapter one which was accepted. Over 80 visitors voted on it and it was rated at 4.5. Three people made favourable comments and I had various emails.

So I submitted chapter two which was in similar vein, but this was rejected. I checked everything and thought it might be rejected because of one character who was a naked young student. I therefore amended the story specifically stating that her age was 21. It was rejected a second time, so I took the advice under the "reason" and submitted it to an editor. He also could find no reason for the rejection. I have sent two emails asking for a SPECIFIC reason for the rejection but so far have had no reply.

So now I have arrived at an impasse. I have had emails asking when chapter two is going to appear; it has already been posted on other sites, and chapter three will soon follow. So do I submit chapter three? If I do, readers will wonder where chapter two got to and if it is posted as "chapter two" this will cause further confusion.

All I need to know is what words or paragraphs are the cause of the rejection - a simple copy and paste job. Then I will know what to amend. Any advice will be welcome.

My advice would be to resubmit chapter 2 with a note in the notes field at the bottom stating it has been checked by an editor and no problems that might cause rejection were found. If that still doesn't work, then I'd go for a second editor opinion (some are better than others.)
