My first experiment with erotic horror was rejected. I was told there was too much snuff. To be honest I'm not sure what snuff is. Anyway, after reading up on it, yes i suppose there's quite a bit of snuff in the story. *shrug*
Is an editor who specializes in erotic horror available to glance at my story and offer some tips about it? I don't want to change too much - I really like the premise.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

First, did the deaths happen during sexual situations? If not, it's not snuff, and may only require submitting again with a note in the "Notes" section that there's no snuff in the story, because none of the deaths involve sexual titillation.

All rejections are framed in the form of a question. They're not always correct. Only one person is reading all the submissions, so they only get a quick skim and a knee-jerk reaction.

Otherwise, EH has a much broader range of allowable violence than most categories. What wouldn't pass even in Non-Human can land in EH because people go there expecting gore and bad endings. Death and maiming not associated with sex -- no matter how gory -- typically isn't an issue. It's only when death or maiming is part of the sex act and meant to be part of the arousal factor that you get into trouble.

Drop me a PM and I'll take a look at it. I have a fairly good bead on what will and won't pass in EH.
