Rejected because of age?

My first story is also the first of a series about a college girl's adventures. Unfortunately, I got rejected. Maybe I didn't make it clear that all my characters were adults? Being a college student myself, I know most of my fellow students are indeed 18+ so I never thought I would need to explain that. Should I add a disclaimer...or work it into the story that my characters are not minors?

I think your best bet is to make it clear in your story that everyone involved is18 or over, so that there cannot be any doubt about it*S*

Did the rejection say it was because of age restrictions? That may not have necessarily been the reason, it could have been formatting problems or something else entirely.

Actually it didn't say anything specific. I copied the text right into the box, I didn't upload it. And the text was straight up, not even bold or italics.

go to your submissions page and click on "rejected" next to the story. there should be a brief description of why your story was rejected.

if it was indeed rejected due to age, just re-submit it and put in the notes that your characters are all over 18 and you're sorry if it wasn't clear - that's what i did when that happened to me.

Can't add much really, but they do reject for other reasons than age, did you make sure you ran a good spelling/grammar check before you submitted, that can cause rejection.

I don't know if they do reject just because the age of the characters isn't mentioned, there's no reason legal or otherwise to reject on that ground, only if underage is noted in the text.
No age, no reason to reject. Unless of course you used a word like schoolkids or some such.

Rejection, rejection

I've had only one story rejected. I clicked on the "rejected" and found that it was because of underage sex.

I though that was rather strange, because there was no sex in the story, and I stated at the end that all characters were eighteen or older.

In later stories, the same character had lots of sex.

I just decided that someone was OTR, and didn't pursue it.

Well, it probably wasn't clear so I think my self-edited version will make the cut. As for spelling and grammer, I've got that covered. I'm no fule.
