That's the technical definition yes.
Unfortunately it doesn't describe the current US political left who claims the term in any way shape form or fashion.
Well gee, that fits nicely.

This is as painfully stupid as Throb's contention that anything other than a "Progressive" income tax is a "Regressive" income tax as if Progressive was and actual economic term.
Just because any political idea is not a "Progressive" (which is actually the American form of Fabian Socialism) does not automatically make it either regressive or a step backwards.
Now have fun looking fucking ignorant...
I'll leave you to the Left-wing circle jerk that you so seem to love and thrive in.
The Internal Revenue Service said:A progressive tax takes a larger percentage of income from high-income groups than from low-income groups and is based on the concept of ability to pay. A progressive tax system might, for example, tax low-income taxpayers at 10 percent, middle-income taxpayers at 15 percent and high-income taxpayers at 30 percent. The U.S. federal income tax is based on the progressive tax system.
Speaking of looking "fucking ignorant", let's see what your favorite bogeyman, the Internal Revenue Service, has to say about progressive income taxes...
Once again you bring great shame upon yourself, your family name, your tribe, the United States Marine Corps and good ole Sensei K.
As always, I provide a LINK to back up my assertions.
It's not for the left. It's for the right.![]()
Is AJ doing Mathmatics again?![]()
I always got a good chuckle out of his "One Dollar, One Quarter and One Nickel Equals 91 Cents!" rants.
maybe that's after taxes?
