Red Horse

The night had been stormy the winds had pushed the sloop further to the South. The captain can up to the deck just as the shift was changing. "Ah sunrise Mr. J a glorious morn is it not?"
"That be the truth Captain, the crew saw some frightful weather lass night!" Mr. J responds.
"And we are off coarse are we not Mr. J? Not looking at the man.
"That be the sad case My Captain." looking down at the deck.
"And Mr. J who was the deck officer lass night on that frightfull night that pushed us off couse?" the captain askes lookin out to sea.
"That would of been Young Mister Brian, Captain, he was the watch officer."
"At the end of this watch I want Mister Brian in my cabin, is that understood Mr. J.? adds plainly.
"Yes My Captain." He taps his forehead with his index finger and moves to the gundeck.

an hour later

The captain is in his cabin and there isa knock on the door. Not looking up he calls out" Come in if you will!"
The door opens and Mister Wilson stands in the doorway holding the door knob. The captain pauses from his map and looks up, Yes Mister Wilson whats on your mind?" the captain askes pleasant enough.
"About Mister Brian, Captain, a word if I may?" he askes respectfully.
"Go on Mister Wilson you seem to have set your course, you best stick to it!" the Captain ads tartly starting to get annoyed.
"Yes Captain, well you see last night the leeward hold was floodin frightfully and Mr. Brian took that to be a real risk to the ship and found that the floodin was quite dangerous and had the crew workin to keep thehorse from eaten to much wave Captain, though we are far ta the south and all, I would ask a consideration for Mister Brian.
"Thank you Mister Wilson I will think on that when the time comes.
"Thank you Captain."

change of watch

At just before noon the morning watch is releived and the day watch comes on deck. The captain is in his cabin looking at the ships log. As there is a knock on the door. "Yes enter!" he says quite sharply.
Mister Brian stands in the door way holding the door knob. "You ordered for me to report to the Captain I was told by Mister J, I was." Mister Brian states quickly.
"Come in and close the door Mister Brian." still lokingat the ships book.
Mister Brian you allowed this ship to leave its course, we are far to the South Mister Brian, much further then I like Mister Brian. I have read the ships log and I know of the leeward flooding. None the less you as the watch officer are to care for all of the ship not just the lee bow, am I quite clear Mister Brian."
"Like crystal Captain. I will call this a training issue Mister Brian, and to teach you to watch out for all the ship you will make your self to the main gallent for the next three watches, is that clear Mister Brian.
"Yes, Captain thank you for your understnding and not ginin me to the cat, Captain, an eagle Eye I'll have fer sure, goodday Captain.

five hours later

A watch and a hour later Mrister Brian legs were stiff and his arms ached from holding on to the top gallent mast. He was holding on with one arm and flexing with the other. The sun was still high in the western sky there were many more hours till sundown. They were sailing west into the heat of the sun and the wnd to their backs.
Then he saw it, speck nothing more. To the west souwest.
He looked down to the nest."Jarvis west souwest what do you see?" he askes.
"I don't have a glass Mister Brian, I can see nut'n but water? Jarvis answers.
A few minutes pass and Mister Brian is not so sure he saw anything, a bird on the herizon maybe. More minutes pass and the horse rises slightly to take a wave. And he sees it again a piont or two more south west.
"Jarvis look again west souwest what do you see? Mister Brian is starting to get excited. "Look man look!" he emplores.
The captain is on the wheel deck and happens to look up. "Mrister J what is the jabbering in the masts."
"That would be Young Mister Brian and Jarvis, my Captain." Mrister J responded evenly.
"Isn't Jarvis a bit old to be in the nest, I want young fresh eyes in the nest for the rest of the watch, that Dutch boy Van Froche, get him up there he has keen eyes.
"Eye Captain, I'll have some one fetch him and get him in the nest!"
"I will bein my cabin if you need me."

Mister Brian was beside himself he was now sure he had seen something to the south west. He looked down and Jarvis was climbing down and Carl was climbing the rat line to the nest. Carl ans Mister Brian were about the same age, with Carl having a few mothes on him. Mister Brian nodded to Carl. Carl sou souwest. What do you see?'

a ship

Carl blocks off the sun with his hand and looks sou souwest. He blinks and looks again. He sees some thing. A sail, could it of been a sail. He calls up to Mister Brian. "Mister Brian could it be a sail."
Mister Brian called back."Do you see a sail to the Sou Souwest, Carl?" his mind starting to race.
After a few second Carl calls back 'Yes, I'm sure now! Yess"
"Mister Brian takes in a breath and then lets it go. "SAIL HOOW" he called out as strong as he could. A second later Carl calls out. SAIL to the port side, 15 degrees.
Mister J heard the call and rushed down to the Captain cabin and knocked on his door.
"Enter if you will." the captain said calmly.
Mister J opened the door and stood in the door way holding the door knob. "Sail Captain" He said simply.
The Captain looked up from his chart "Where? " " 15 degrees port, Captain" Mister J answers.
The captain smiles and and looks at Mister J" Shall we get started then? Mister J smiles back "Were done with the english gentleman charade Lets go be Pirates RRRR. AND SO WE BEGIN

The Red Horse

Captain Andrew Sinclair came out of his cabin and took a big long breath of the sea air. His stealy eyes looking over the ship with a quick glance here and there. He turned to the ships master of arms. "Were pirates again lets behave that way, make my horse fly Jacob and get the lads out of the masts. Lets go do the devils work. "
"OK yeh sons of English whores the Captain wants the Horse to fly and fly she will! Layout all the sheets and canvas she has, make this ship fly in the wind!" The sailing master called out. James McCannon Wilson watched the crew jump to there stations. James and Andrew had know each other from Andy's years in Scotland. Andrew had worked in the Wilson ship yard in Bristol. Andy had a trade, but not the will to just build ships. He was a man of the sea. And while he had many loves in his life none was greater then his love for the sea.
Mister Wilson I smell Pussy, Spanish Pussy and gold, peices of eight in chests just a callin out to us, it is our job Mister Wilson to take that pussy and rescue that ill gotten gold from the Papist Spanish.
"You heard the Captain, Pusssy and gold for the crew of the Red Horse!"
"PUSSY and GOLD" called out the crew.

But soon in the distance a little bit 'well, Well id suggest stopping where you are right this moment" A woman was seen her hair a perfect silver, in a braided pony tail, a dress that shows she was someone very high up, she crossed with her sword right to them "Let this go now and id suggesting leaving........NOW'

Mr. Wilson if you please....

"You heard the Captain, Pusssy and gold for the crew of the Red Horse!"
"PUSSY and GOLD" called out the crew.
"Mr. Wilson will read from the Bible and give blessing to the Crew." Andrew stated and the crew grew quiet.
Mr. Wilson reached out and pulled out a single page of paper. He cleared his throat.
"Chapter 6 verse 3 & 4 And when he opened the second seal, I heard the beast say, Come and See. And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword." "And this is the word of the lord and of god, he enpowers us by the naming of our ship THE RED HORSE to do his bidding, take up the sword and take peace from the Papist Spanish, so help us god!"
"Kill them all!" cries one of the crew.
"To your stations men and remember why were here!" Andrew call out loudly.
Mister Wilson turn to the Captain with a Smile "Pussy and Gold, Captain?" THEE Motto of the Ship, We saw, we took, Pussy and Gold" Andrew replied.
"PUSSY AND GOLD!" you heard it from the Captain, cried out Mister Wilson.
"PUSSY AND GOLD!" shouted back the crew as they hurried to their stations.

Mercy didn't know what was going on, she was among the men pretending to be a man, she sighed some. "God men were pigs" She thought to herself, but she saw some people looking at her. She knew she was going to be exposed pretty soon, she slowly stood up not caring any more "There is more to woman then whats between there legs" She shouted.

the horse flies

With all of the canvas out and every sail set th RED HORSE cuts through the waves. The ship in the distance is a Spanish Brig. Though bigger then the sloop she doesn't handle as well. The horse has the running broad reach and the brig the broad reach, not bad but the horse is faster and the brigis yet to set all of its sails. It is moving along at about four knots while the horse is doing eleven. It is a matter of time before the horse will catch the brig.

the awakening

Mister Wilson props his spyglass next to the foremast to check on the brig. Finally some one had seen the Horse and was setting the sails. She changed course to due West for the best wind. We have her it's too late. As she turns Mister Wilson can make out her name. SANTA DE MONA Damn she's a local, off the beeten track and way south, but a local none the less.
Mister Wilson turns and returns to Andy's side. "Its the Santa da Mona,Captain!"
"From San Jaun and El Moro? She is a little far from home, I wonder why they brought her way down here? Last I heard she was in Havana running to St. Augustine."
"Eye Captain thats what I heard too, she did business in Vera Cruz a while back, but like you said never this for south!" He replies raising his spy glass again.
