Red Castle Lake

Anyone ever do this hike?

I will be doing it July 4th. Hike in. Camp two days, fish, climb the summit. Hike out.

Anything I should know or bring outside the normal?

What did the Trout bite on? Eggs, spoons, or bring a fly?

Trolling for internet pussy, FatAss? I doubt anyone here is impressed with your lame attempt to impress.

A net and some decent sized firecrackers is more humane and productive.

It will be busy that weekend I hear, lots of hippies. I think they would have a heart attack.

Can you ask that Hash to repeat itself? I am having troubles hearing it...

As much as it follows me around I suspect I know who it is even without reading it...

Just joshing...

The hike sounds like uneccessary work though.

Nah... the hike isn't work. Starts around 10k and moves just over 12k over a little less than 15 miles. It's the climbing the next day that will be a little work. But I may bail on that and fish/get high instead.

Hey, asshole, failure to report the herpes you got from one of your street walking conquests to your poor wife could be criminal transmission.

Cant say I have ever tried that.

I am always down for something new..

Amazon prime here I come.......

If I was ever only allowed one fly I would be a size 14 or even smaller bead head caddis. Turn over any rock in any river around here and chances are it is covered in caddis pupa constructs.

Some pictures for the cool people and the trolls as well...

Not that any picture of this place could do it justice. Also a couple of a little pre hike wake surfing on the Ferrari of wake boats.

I don't see any 'cool' trout pictures. :D

Was eating edibles as i fished. So a little too much Hunter S conversations to worry about pictures:)

Caught 2 brown and 3 rainbow. 2-3 pounders so nothing impressive. All I brought to cook was aluminum foil. So fillets wrapped and thrown in the fire with no spices.... still delicious.

Moose, elk, and small black bears everywhere. Was fishing in a stream 100 yards down from a couple blacks.

Unfortunately all I brought for pictures was my phone and it didn't go in the stream with me.

I'm heading up to Conchas or Heron in the next week or two depending on which is producing better. Heron has Lake Trout and Kokanee Salmon (resident fish) as well as the Rainbows. I'd like to get a couple of good sized Salmon.

BTW, what did you catch them on?

Panther Martin silver spoon. Tried a few jigs but I kept losing them on the rocks.

Beautiful. How was the hike?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times:)

It was beautiful and hard.

My dogs are still barking.

But I went with a group of under 30's and they had to ask me to slow down a few times so I'm good with that:) did better than 2.6 mph on the way up.
