Recurring elements in your stories

So what things do you see coming back again and again in your writings? And why?
Retro-erotica of various kinds: skinbyrds / "rude girls" (I don't know why, exactly), Sixties Playmates, an outing in Victorian erotica... there's something about certain eras and aesthetics that just puts the hook in me.

Thanks for getting this thread back on track. For a moment there I thought we'd lost it for good, with Em's blue cheese comment.

1. Humans with realistic physical characteristics. I'm not interested in writing about 10 inch cocks and 44DDD breasts.

2. Characters that are generally fit. Because I'm not, and I hate that.

My current WIP is retro-erotica too, plunking me right back in college in the late seventies. It'll be interesting to see what kind of reaction it gets, especially with the young-uns trying to understand how people got by with no computers, no phones. Turns out we climbed tall, unfinished telecommunications towers and sat out on a 1 metre wide ledge with no fence. Half way up the damn thing!

Maybe too much so. I just got this comment on my latest story:

The fact that the heroine is blonde is unacceptable šŸ˜‹šŸ˜ But seriously a truly wonderful story. Tony is incredible. Too bad she's not a redhead with green eyes and freckles šŸ˜‹Jeff was ok too. I'm sure I'll reread this story a few more times in the future. Keep up the good work.

  • My main characters tend to be smart, funny, flawed, talented, and lusty - in general, people I would enjoy knowing and having as friends.
  • Although most MCs are not based on people I know, many of my antagonists are loosely based on people I have known and not liked. I take pains to make sure they would not recognize themselves, though.
  • I like digging into locations I know well - a couple of my stories have wound up being valentines to places where I used to live.
  • And as I reviewed my stories here, I was surprised at how many included a mental health therapist as a side character or references to characters having gone to therapy.

I would say 3 elements keep showing up in my work:

1. Women coming into their own and discovering new sides to themselves
2. women wearing latex clothing, especially women wearing latex for the first time
3. Judaism. A lot of my stories feature Jewish characters, either as a major focus of the story or just a minor character element.
