I recently read THE ODESSA FILE by Frederick Forsyth, and watched Mel Gibson's EDGE OF DARKNESS.

THE ODESSA FILE is a waste of time but for Chapter 18, which kinda redeems the whole novel. Chapter 18 contains the perfect plot twist, and is brilliant. The rest sux. Chapter 18 is brilliant cuz Forsyth reveals the hero's agenda, which was hidden in plain sight all along. But everyone was puzzled til then.

The EDGE OF DARKNESS film is standard Mel Gibson stuff, 100% action adventure with as many twists and turns as an Alpine road. Some of the events are implausible, but the plot is tight and Spartan, and every scene counts. Sawdust is all thats left after the edits. Every scene sets up the next, so you never wonder whats going on or why.
