I'm going to be visiting my cousin for a couple weeks down in Florida and it's sort of become a tradition where I'd find some scary/fucked up movies that I'd watch with his wife (she's a fan of them, he's not).

I've shown her movies like:

Oldboy (Korean version)
The Conjuring
The Orphanage
The Devil's Backbone

I was looking for a couple of good ones to scare the living shit out of her. Here's a couple I have in mind so far:

Goodnight Mommy
The Babadook
The Nightmare
The House of the Devil

Any other suggestions?

If you really wish "to scare the living shit out of her"...

...turn her on to some of your incest postings here.

Rec, both the Spanish and American versions
Deliver Us From Evil
Annabelle

I know it's old... but I loved 13 ghosts, which I am going to watch right now.

(It's a remake, original version is from 1961, latest update? 2001)

Desperate Living (1977) by director and writer John Waters

Description of movie by IMDb:

"A rich housewife enlists her maid's help to murder her husband. They go on the lam and end up in Mortville, a homeless community built into a garbage dump."

My favorite character is Peggy Gravel.

Peggy Gravel: Go home to your mother! Doesn't she ever watch you? Tell her this isn't some communist daycare center! Tell your mother I hate her! Tell your mother I hate you!

Peggy Gravel: Hello? What number are you calling? You've dialed the wrong number! Sorry? What good is that? How can you ever repay the last thirty seconds you have stolen from my life? I hate you, your husband, your children, and your relatives!

13 Ghosts is a good one! I've only seen the remake, though.

How old is your cousin? Is she an adult? I find that my child who loves horror flicks struggles with anything over a decade old because the technology is so out of date that she can't suspend disbelief enough to go for the ride.

We recently enjoyed Hush (on Netflix) and Cabin in the Woods (campy).

Has she seen Saw?

Saw several more movies after the original

the Evil dead

Hell raiser several more movies after the original

The Sound of Music horrifies me - I have never had the necessary courage to watch it - or for that matter anything with the utterly appalling Julie Andrews.

She's in her 30s. She also mentioned to me that she really hated Cabin in the Woods.

The last time I visited, I prepped by trying to find some movies that would shock her. Some guy from work recommended a movie called, "A Serbian Film". I checked it out online before going down to Florida.

I made her promise me that she would NEVER EVER watch that movie. It's the one movie that I wish I could un-watch, which is saying a lot since I've seen some fucked up shit over the years.
