Hi, Friends! I hope you're all doing well! So... I think I'm a decent writer and reader reaction to my 47 stories so far seems to say the same. (Yay!!!) So--I don't *need* an editor to make this next story "okay." No. Rather, I want an editor to help me make this next story GREAT. It needs another set of eyes to help me do that. It doesn't just need someone to find the very occasional grammar issue. It needs someone who can suggest moving a paragraph or two or changing the wording of some dialogue to get a slightly different effect. I need a really good editor! Would any of you fellow authors be right for this job? Or can you recommend someone? It needs to be someone who likes bisexual interracial cuckolding stories, please... I've written yet another!! (One day, maybe I'll get a bolt of lightening to branch out.) Thanks for your help!! Syn4321

A great editor is indeed a great thing. There are lots of talented people here, but you could always flick a similar message over to the Editor's Forum. Maybe include a link to the stories you've written so far so people can gauge your style, and include some more specifics on the new story in question: length, plot, category. Good luck!

Be aware of what you're asking. A professional editor works at a rate of about 1000 words an hour. How much time and energy are you asking someone to dedicate to your story?

This is excellent input! It's a crazy ask then unless I pay someone. I'm not averse to that except there goes my anonymity. So I'll go work on it myself until I like it enough. Thank you so much for this insightful input! 🙏🙏

I'm working with two good editors, and both of them reached out to me. IMHO the more your stories read that you don't need an editor, the more likely a good editor will reach out to you. A good editor wants to spend their (free) time helping someone who doesn't need a lot of help. Also, the editor should enjoy your stories so that they are on the same page with you as to how the story should be written. You are far more likely to have an PM from a potential editor who enjoys bisexual interracial cuckolding stories than any of us are to know an editor who has expressed an interest in such stories.

I used beta-readers to get my stories up to the point that a good editor reached out to me. Whenever a reader sent me a long comment, I'd send them what I was working on to get their feedback. By doing that, I recruited a good number of beta-readers. Beta-readers are good to have with good editors because even the best editor will miss things.

I also have an alpha-reader who reads sections as I write them and gives me advice on if each section works and/or how to improve it. That person provides the most valuable feedback. His advice is valuable because he's a huge fan of my stories. Again, someone I recruited when they sent me a PM.

There are definitely some beta readers I could recruit from long comments and personal messages I've received. That's a great direction for me to go in. I'll consider the alpha-reader idea, too. Thanks also for the idea that perhaps an editor may reach out to me.

This is how I got my editor. I've worked with a couple of other writers, who were great, but they have their own projects. However, I then noticed the wonderful Mykymyk2 leaving long, thoughtful comments on all my first few stories... so I messaged them to ask if they'd consider being my editor. They've done a great job so far!
