I usually wait til they are out on video, but this past weekend saw three I liked. Stallone in "Get Carter",Political movie/ "Contender" and "Charlie's Angels"
Just one man's opinion
Bring it on. pretty entertaining
Charlies Angels is good brain dead entertainment as well
Meet the Parents is pretty funny
Shanghi Noon, I really liked
Remember the Titans, is a must see.
Return to me was possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. Well, maybe not that bad, but I felt like throwing up. (Maybe because I saw it on an airplane...)
Traffic is good. Almost Famous, too.
I have an entire day to watch movies and pig-out on food this weekend, and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm gonna start with some "Charlie's Angeles" eye candy, and have me some cookies and milk, and watch naked. Then I'll order in some Chinese and beer, put on slacks and a dress shirt, maybe a tie, and delve into "13 Days". And then I'll get out the sweat pants and heroin and watch "Traffic".
On video
Gladiator - excellent movie all around
Fandango - an old flick with Costner and Judd Nelson
- last road trip before going to Vietnam
Until the End of the World
- Weird but cool
- set in the near future and it's a love story
In theaters
Snatch - really good movie
Crouching Tiger - prob best movie of the year
Blow is supposed to be good too but I haven't seen it yet
Dang! I forgot! My friend also has the DVD of "Crouching Tiger", and I wanted to borrow that because the tape I had wasn't letterboxed, and I really got the feeling I missed a lot. Gotta make me a phone call and rearrange the menu...
We just ordered up 'Charlie's Angels" in the room in Vegas. I thought it sucked. Sucky plot, sucky special effects. Lovely girls, but stupid stupid stupid.
"Nurse Betty" was fun. Weird to get my mind around Morgan Freeman in a villain's role.
"Enemy at the Gates" was great. Gory, but riveting. That's out in theatres now.
"13 Days" was great too. Even though it's Hollywood's version of "what really happened," it helped fill in a gap in my history. The stuff that wasn't in the history books I learned from, and happened when I was too young to understand. What a tense time.
I liked "Return to Me," but I found it hard to accept the qualities of the dead wife that somehow managed to cross over to the recipient of the heart.
I just went to see "Along Came A Spider" (Morgan Freeman, Monica Potter). It SUCKED. It was truly awful. Kiss The Girls was great but this one is a toilet slushie.
MOVIES I LIKE:
Shallow Grave (dark comedy, suspense)
Cosi (loons perform Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti in the nutter)
Pay It Forward (Kevin Spacey Has Never been In A Bad Film)
American Beauty (see above)
A Life Less Ordinary (this one cracks me up)
Almost Famous (pretty cool flick)
The Cell (J-Lo is not a great actress but it is trippy)
Miss Congeniality (Sandra Bullock is cute and funny)
The Slums Of Beverly Hills
MOVIES TO AVOID:
Battlefield Earth
Attention Shoppers
Eyes Wide Shut
Along Came A Spider
Along came a spider sucks? I was wanting to see that, but it doesnt matter he doesnt go for those kind of movies. I really wanted to see Hannible, but that was another no on his part. I"ll probably get him to taek me by the video store, I"ll rent a few and have him drop me off back at home. LOL!
