From dos.

Windows won't load up, but I do have the CD. Anyone know how I do this?

if you are in DOS, just change to the drive. Type DIR and get the name of the program to run (autostart or install ect) and type and hit enter.

if you are wanting to start from that drive, enter your BIOS and change the start drive to the CD

basic input/output system. It is part of your motherboard that tells it what is there (ie type of hard drives, whether there is a floppy or CD, where the controller info is, the type of memory ect). When you first start up, you see alot of shit scrolling along. One of the first things you see is a key stroke combination that if you enter it at that time, you will enter into your BIOS. But if you are not a geek...I wouldn't mess with this. You should be able to do what you want with the original installation disk.

What version of Windows are you talking about here?

XP.

Seriously, should it be that hard to reboot from a CD?

no...when I use my XP disk, it gives me an option to repair and install new. But it is just an XP disk, not one from a manufacturer that is taylored to a specific system build.
