It was a time of peace. Many centuries had passed since the near limitless power of magic was discovered and the wars over its control were long over. Magic users are now rare, with only a few academies to train these powers scattered across the world.
The Nation on Xaria had stood for 300 hundred years, prospering in peace and harmony with it's neighboring nations. The Xarian people placed the highest value in justice, peace and beauty, eschewing military power or force. Artisans, and philosophers the Xarians were content to spend their days basking in the simple joy of existence.
That was until the day when the Skorr Empire arrived at their door. Powerful, violent and warlike, the Skorr were expanding their territories and had decided their peaceloving brothers were no longer fit to rule themselves.
The Xarian armies fell after only a week of fighting.
The King of Xaria, fearing for his people's lives, surrendered unconditionally. The Skorr moved in quickly, occupying the capital city and crushing any last remnants of rebellion. The King remained in place, but with all authority stripped, leaving him as little more then a puppet. Since then the Xarians have faced harsh treatment, persecution and second class citizen status at the hands of their conquerors. Any who stood against the black armored troops of the Empire were quickly silenced.
It is now the 29th year of occupation. The Grand Emperor Skorr the XIII has decreed that at the end of the year a great festival is to be held to celebrate 30 years of "peace, order and justice" under Skorr rule. All the citizens are to attend and it promises to be the greatest celebration in the city's history attended by the Emperor himself.
It is on this day that the children of Xaria plan to strike back at their conquerors and once more stir the fires of rebellion.
((So I put some thought into this world so people better get in on it! We're making up with world as we go along and I think it could be lots of fun. Submit profiles. We'll need Xarians, Imperial citizens, guards, independents or whatever you can think of. This is an alter-earth scenario so anthro creatures will be allowed, pretty much anything goes. Within reason. You'll be notified via PM if you're in like Flinn. Hope people enjoy))

Name: Tuireann
Age:20

Occupation: None(formerly a student)
History: Tuireann was born in a small town on the outskirts of the Xarian frontier. Living his entire live under occupation, Tuireann has spent his entire life under the hell of the Skorr. At the age of 6, Tuireann manifested a potential for magic, a rare skill in Xarians. Forgoing a formal education at a Skorr magic academy, Tuireann was trained to use his power under a local master. Developing a skill in Lightning, one of the most difficult to control, Tuireann has turned his attention back to his homeland, and his ever present dream of liberating his people from their tyrants.
((A word on the world this will occur in. Feel free to throw in an other nations or histories you feel like as long as it doesn't contradict anything already up there. A word on magic. It's rare in this world but it still comes up. Think one person out of every hundred or so. In this thread, magic is defined as being able to control the natural elements. They are...
Fire
Water
Earth
Wind
Lightning
Void(the non-element. This skill is considered almost impossible to master)
Magic users are attuned to one of these elements. There are legends of upper level masters being able to use multiple elements, but such a being has not existed in centuries.(and no, I am not one of them ;p )
These are not iron-clad inflexible rules, but I don't want people going nuts and being all "I can magic up whatever the situation calls for!"
Hope people enjoy. Now join dammit!
