Ok...there are two new "reality" shows out there...

"The Ship" on the history channel (so that people can relive what it would be like to live on a 19th century ship)

"Dog Days" on animal planet (following some really twisted dog owners in new york)

I have only one question...why?

Why are they punishing us like this? Wasn't the Anna Nicole show bad enough?

Did you watch the one on PBS? Where they homesteaded?

That was like a soap opera.

I couldnt stop watching it.

I had to tape them all.

The Klumes were put on there for comic relief.

You gotta love someone who gets the kids involved in making moonshine.

I can imagine if they were in the real world

"Hey mom and dad, guess what I learned in school today?"
<vodka vapours wafting from their bodies>

snicker

although I did see part of the dog days show last night...it was sad. Those people were just pathetic. I mean, I'm devoted to my cat, but you don't see me looking at the doggie equivalent to the ritz to leave her for a week while I'm in teh bahamas. But I wasn't actually surprised...I live in nyc...and people here are a breed apart. (pun intended)

I dunno, the fact that those girls were running around in their under-clothes might have the fumes seem okay. ;)

You gotta be kidding. These are ppl with too much time and money for their own good. These are the kinds of ppl who dress their dogs up in little tuxes and dresses for pretend weddings. Makes me feel normal again.

Yeah and they were such bitches. Right from the get go you could tell this is NOT how they wanted to spend the summer. Doncha be given up on dat city life der folks LOL

There was also the woman who threw her dog a birthday party and not only bought party hats, but also a tiara for the birthday dog. They all acted like their dogs were actually toddlers. It's on thing to love your pet or even to refer to it as a child to you...it's another to take that to an extreme. It was so bad, I couldn't turn it off.

Bwah hahahahaha!!! LMAO
Jesus. I'm sure the dogs were looking at their owners going,
"Oh man, are we EVER going to shit in your shoes tonight!"

oh and deliciously_naughty:
step away from the TV. Slowly. No sudden movements. Just let it go.

good advice

In my opinion, reality shows have totally lost their appeal and overall purpose in life (if there ever was on) I mean who the hell in real life would do such things with their freaking dog, besides those that are so depressed to resort to dressing up their dogs? That's not reality, that's sad.

Part of your problem might be your definition of "educational" television. "Animal Planet?" Are you serious? And "The History Channel" has so many fucking commercials, it's ridiculous.

Sounds like your cable or satellite doesn't get many channels, and you don't have much of a choice. Damn.

The Ship

I've been watching this for the past few nights...It's not too bad.

Better than most of the "reality" shows.

There is definately a historical aspect to this show. They are sailing on an almost exact replica of the Endevour (Cooks ship) Everything is the same except they use an Australian wood for the hul instead of oak and the sails are a differen material than what they had in the 18 Century. Oh...and they have Heads(toilets):)

Although they continually Bash Captain Cook for causing the destruction of the Australian Indigineous (sp) people.

But it definately makes me glad that I wasn't sailing the high seas in the late 18th Century. God, Salt beef and Cabbage for food, every meal????

And no beer or Grog:confused: ...unacceptable

That was rude of me. I apologize deliciously_naughty, occasionally I get a wild hair up my ass and say something stupid.
