I thought I'll tackle a classic story. The wife of the best friend/brother wants to get pregnant. In the stories I've seen the reasons do not really go much deeper than that, and they they bang it out. 10/10 story.

I think it's a missed opportunity. There's so many strong emotions you can play with. To rectify this mistake I'll make a short story. I'll try to make it (more) realistic, while still following the familiar story beats. In the end you should feel like it could happen, without people already being on the extreme end of sex with swinging, orgies, liking cuckhold and whatnot.

I have the big lines already in my mind. The men are twins, so the DNA is 'the same', already covering many complaints (i.e. it'll not be his kid). The twin would be absolutely devastated if he found out that he can't procreate, so they try to do it without his knowledge. They don't fuck immediately, but plan it for ovulation.

Even so input is appreciated. How would you think that people who otherwise would never stray outside their marriage would fuck? It is a huge commitment. Rawdogging your brother's wife to start with. Getting her pregnant and never sharing with your own twin it's actually your kid is bigger. At least the brother's wife is doing it out of desperation, close to the action of her husband going into a deep depression should she tell him.

And how would his own wife be okay with this? So far it's just helping her friend and understanding that it would destroy one brother, so accepts her husband needs to act. She'll not be in the bedroom though, as it's not that kind of story. It's enough debauchery already.

You are also trimming out a lot of the drama.

They can be twins but not identical. The husband should know. His coming to grips with his own low count and his brother's availability would be great plot content.

Then there's his efforts to get his wife down with it. If brother is single maybe a sweet loving threesome? If he's married then there's more drama.

It's cool to make it feel realistic, but don't streamline the drama from the story.

Thanks for your input. I think trimming is necessary with a short story. I already have three big stories that I'm writing on, and my track record before lit was one story in maybe a year. Cutting the brother/friend out of the drama will make it easier to write, at least how I see it. The twin aspect can help them feel better about it, as they then are 'the same'. As an identical twin myself I can tell you it's not (and my brother very fine, it's just an unrelated story), but popular consensus would think that's the case.

That makes three characters to place the scene, one at her wits end, trying anything to keep her husband from getting a depression. The twin as he would do anything for his brother, even if he can't appreciate it. Finally the protagonist's wife, who doesn't want it, but still supports it for some reason (friendship? Knowing it'll otherwise hit her hubby? Force him to fulfill her wish for kids as well as payment?).

If I include the brother it can make things easier. There can be consent, lowering the drama in that aspect. However, you run into the problem that they have years of options ahead of them. If the woman is fine, they can do absolute magic with IVF and such these days. I even read an article once that female to female could be possible, though I think that was highly theoretical. Even if all else fails, the only reason they would let the protagonist breed her is if there was no money for a procedure with his sperm. No doubt possible, but still far fetched. In my own country many of such things fall under insurance even.

If I do want to write a story most lit readers can identify with, I think they would have options for IVF and the like. As erotica IVF and similar treatments are very low on my list. I'm sure there's a market, but I'll let someone else write that one.

The theesome bit is jarring though. If I make the protagonist single it'll easy the drama, but I feel going to threesome is a bridge too far. I think the majority of people wouldn't want to be in the same room when their wife is getting breeded by someone else, especially a family member. Lit can give a skewed perspective on things, but I wager that most people do not want to actually participate in incest for example, despite the interest.

Even so you've had many good ideas, so if you have more, let them rip.

Given your parameters, I have a few ideas.

They're mainly focused around a story I read here years ago (but cannot find to my great annoyance) where a couple's old friend comes to visit. The husband has to go away, leaving the wife and friend alone... I think you can guess where things lead. The twist at the end is the husband knew all along and set it up. You could do something similar. The husband invites his twin to stay, then "has to leave" for work or whatever. The difference could be that the wife is upfront with her brother-in-law about what she wants from him. She can explain all that stuff about being at her wit's end, IVF not working (or not being able to afford it?), etc, and eventually wear him down. After all, she is an attractive lady, and you can say this has been planned for a little while, with things like her being more flirtatious with her b-i-l and the couple plying on what he'd do to help. Heck, maybe the twin already offers to be a sperm donor and that's what kicks the idea off. You can even have a humourous scene where he's like "yeah this isn't at all what I had in mind". Whether the husband is also in on it here is obviously up to you but I can see it working either way.

I know it's not the most "realistic" but it's what I got.

Thanks for the idea. Particularly the donor thing I might be able to work with. If the protagonist has a wife, the wife might not want kids or can't have kids. Though a friend of mine who thinks about IVF told me there's a lot of men there that already have kids, but do not want more in the household. One of these reasons is why she allows him to be a donor. Being a donor lowers the step for the protagonist's wife to allow him to do it.

Even if he's single it'll make the story less complex. Knowing there's a baby wish from the protagonist, which can be with otherwise unfamiliar women, lowers their bar to ask him. The brother and his wife can decide to keep it close to the family too. If they keep it from the rest of family and friends there will be less scrutiny and more easy acceptance than a baby from another man.

It still leaves me struggling with the husband knowing. It feels a bridge too far if he knows. Not only does get a devastating blow that he can't conceive, he'll allow his brother or friend to do it for him? It only works for humiliation stories I think, and I'm personally not a big fan. And again, there's IVF and the like they can try first. Not having enough money isn't compelling enough for me.

I think the desperation of the wife can be a big motivator. Preventing sorrow of the husband is a great first step for the protagonist and wife to accept doing it. It also puts time pressure before the husband starts questioning why they can't conceive. Time pressure makes people do stupid things as well.

In the current draft they live a few minutes walk away from each other, allowing the easy access you described from a visit. The husband can be away for a great number of things, giving the wife time to come over/invite the protagonist over. I'll have only one sex scene for now, but conceiving is a multi times job if you want to have some certainty. So they'll agree for more times. The wife is then suggested to have sex with the brother forst to keep up the ruse, allowing the protagonist to come later for his contribution.

I'm still struggling with the protagonist's wife though. I could cut her out too for the short story, but that leaves maybe a bit too little. Using it as a bargaining chip for something big in their life is my best idea so far. She can pressure him to do it, then use it to make him breed her too. A long held wish of her he has been loath to fulfill so far. It's a big commitment.

It is an interesting idea and there are a lot of ways to handle it. A couple is getting older and have not had luck getting pregnant for several years. They look into IVF and it is either prohibitively expensive or they have already spent a significant amount with no result. Another idea, if you want to get a bit political, is with the current US government, they make it more difficult to get IVF treatments.

They even discuss adoption but the husband not only wants to pass on the family name, but also the family DNA which the wife supports. The husband has brothers, doesn't have to be twins, or cousins who share some DNA. In a moment of frustration one of the partners shouts out the should just fuck whoever. With the idea out there it sits and percolates for a while until one brings it up again as a serious option. And to add a bit more drama, perhaps the second couple has some kids, so they know everything works and it would probably be a better bet than continued treatments.

You have a lot to play with in this scenario:

Is the other person married, and how do each partner react.

Maybe one or both couples are religious and how do they navigate there beliefs and desires when they conflict.

Or maybe both couples are polar opposites on the political spectrum and they have to decide if politics or family is more important.

When they agree, it doesn't happen right away, which everyone was secretly hoping for. The couple has to get together many times over several months or a year or two. How does it affect the people involved and the couples.

You're welcome!

Then I think it's a better bet for the husband not to know. You can just say early on (maybe while the wife istrying to convince the protagonist to do it) that they tried fertility treatments that didn't work. She's coming to him because they're both desperate and want biological children. so yes, the desperation and time crunch should be big factors.

Loving this. Maybe the first time it's rationalised as purely "transcational" - she just wants a baby close in genetics to her husband, and he just wants to help his brother and sister-in-law. But then they both realise the other is really good at sex, so they come up with the rationalisation of needing to be certain. And while they're still focused on her conceiving, they're really enjoying fucking nonetheless.

It could work, but I'd personally say he's currently single. I still think there's definitely enough there without both brothers needing to be married.
