I was wondering what kind of writings do people in general find more erotic? Reading about other people's personal experiences or reading fictitous stories.

How do you know what is real and what is not? Someone could say "This story is based around real events in my life"... Does that mean the story is 100% true, or since it's "based around" did they elaborate? Did they flat out lie when they said it was true?

The stories (I've been trying to write lol) are a mixture of real life experiences and things I obviously enjoy/may fantasize about. I feel, without some real knowledge in a topic, a story could reflect badly. Usually it's obvious when someone doesn't know what they're talking about, and I enjoy realistic stories. :) Ones you'd say, "Yeah, I could see that happening".

That makes a lot of sense. I agree that "real" you read has to be taken with a certain degree of faith that the authors' may have "tweaked" certain details.

i like a high degree of versimilitude in stories. i mean, nothing kills my interest in a story faster than "my ridiculously large penis, which is 9" long btw, slid right into her ass w/out any lube all the way to the hilt".

whether the events actually occurred, or only occurred in the author's mind is largely immaterial to me as a reader.

Fiction to me holds more possibilities, and the really wild ones that are supposedly 'true' smell too much like BS to me :)

True tales are usually written a bit too briefly as well, at least in my wanderings. I just prefer fiction stories, and you can substitute fiction more into your own fantasies... thou that can work equally as well with 'real' stories, it all really depends on the writer's style :D

I hope my stories reach your standards, silver! :) They are a bit no-nonsense, but the storylines themselves, thou serving only to get us all to the sex, are SUPPOSEDLY well recieved by my readers...

I would never bother to write about any real sexual events in my own life anyway, its all pretty standard stuff I'm afraid :(

Fiction, baby, it's all about the fiction! That's why I write. That's why I game. I want something different from reality. I want an escape.

:) mate, check out all the Hs beside the stories, I think I'm doing SOMETHING right! :D :p

9 inches?

Nine inches isn't rediculously large, I'm not quite that big but I'm close. Overall reality has nothing on a good fantasy, you need to change a few of the facts around to keep it interesting. As for me I write a combination, my Karen stories are a combination of things that have happened and things that could happen with slight stretches of reality. On the flip side my Power Ranger stories which were warmly received are entirely ficticiuos but a lot of fun.

Fantasy based in reality

I tend to like realistic fantasy. For me great television and movies tend to have a feel of "this could really happen". Erotica is the same way.
Still, I think most characters in erotica are more beautiful, fit, and well endowed than their real life counterparts. But that's what makes it fantasy.

Personally, I think the best stories are the ones you can place yourself into, these are the one's where there is no mention of length, or size or any of that. It's just things like 'his wonderully sized cock sliding into me almost gives me an orgasm.' That's what I like, just skip the whole boasting bull 'my 9 incher,' I have never met a man who actually had a big one boast that it's this big and this wide, they always know abouts but only spout them off when you say 'oh this is nice, what about 7 inches?' ;)

Hmmmm, wait, there is one type of guy with a big one who knows exactly how big, date a porn star sometime and ask them.

Sorry, Captain. Truth really is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to be believable, but the real world doesn't.

Just think, if someone had written a story where the presidency of the USA depended on the interpretation of a few hanging chads ... nobody would have accepted it. I can see the comments now "Ridicdulous ... Couldn't possibly happen ... No vote is going to be that close in a nation that big ... etc."

Or if a Lit author had written about a President getting blow-jobs in the Oval Office from an Intern ...

Agree to disagree, yet again :D

Just stating what MY OWN beliefs are on the subject, mate. Couldnt really make a comment thou on the US Presidency thing, cause I wasnt around on Lit at that time... look I just think fiction holds more possiblities, but yes I do conscede that sometimes the sayin 'Truth is stranger than fiction' can be changed and applied to this case... 'Truth is more erotic than fiction'.

I just harbour the opinion that fiction can, for the most part, be better than real stories, but feel free to point me and others to stories that are 'real' that you believe show that reality is better than fiction stories :)

Cheers,

Capt

I agree with Captain. I love fiction because I don't have to wonder if the writer is trying to sell me crap. If you are writing fiction and you get emotional feedback, then you know that you did a good job.

I agree with that. I hate getting number measurements in my stories (although, come to think of it, I might have done that in one of mine, hmmm...I should check.). Especially when someone is writing about a girl's bra size and get its completely wrong. I just get pulled out of the story so fast and I'm like "Wait, she can't be a size six AND have 42EE breasts; thats impossible!"

Yes there was a very good thread on here a while back, in which I had a very good discussion with one fellow Lit-er in particular who helped me changed my views on a number of situations.

Now, I try to balance things between detail, realism and description, keeping the measurements for the most part out of things, though a couple of my earlier works do have them...

I voted both are but it should be both can be. I've found a few that are so outragously fake they're comical.

My biggest problem with fiction is what's already been status. A lot of stories seem like desparate fantasies and come off as pure crap.
