Real or Fake?

Sickly sweet,
Turning on charm.
Flirting,
Posturing,
Snaring,
Trapping.

Hurting,
Bringing down,
Not realising the pain.
Others
Feeling
Empty.

What conclusions?
Are there any?
Yes,
It's all bollocks.
Not real,
No matter.

Responses, input and critiques most welcome. I dunno why, but I just felt like writing that and when it comes to poetry, I'm a twat. ;)

Looks good to me Lou. I've always like poetry...that reads like it to me...I can't give you anything more critiquey though.

Aren't you just a Twat full stop? :p

Thank you.

Your Twattiness is a beautiful thing.

Dunno if I'm brave enough to do that, though! I'll think about it. ;)

The poets don't bite much ;)

Once your head's been bitten off, the rest of you doesn't feel a thing!

Alex

Yeah, that's what worries me. :D

Just to make it clear, because I've had a couple of PM's (bless), this poem is not about me and was not inspired by anything directly involving me. But, it does concern someone I care deeply about. Poetry is always from the heart, eh?

Lou :rose:

The poets bit my head off  it certainly knocked the stiffing out of me *L*

Oh and you're welcome princess twat.

I think it's good Lou. Like El, I can't offer critique, my poetry attempts are awful :)

Thanks, Colly!

Oh heck, I might just submit it, just like that (as Tommy Cooper would say).

Me too, the poem did, but submitting didn't...LOL

I've found submitting to be very easy, and the pain is just an added bonus.

Oh, you were talking about submitting the poem, weren't you?

I am such a twat. :D

Lou, I'm curious about the background about the poem. I guess I like to try to get into the author's head and understand what it is they are saying.

I read it the first time through and equated it to interaction on the internet or here in these forums -but that's just my personal slant on it.

As you are the author, I guess I'd just like to know what your personal slant is, or intent.

McK, yes, it's very much what you said in your second paragraph - your interpretation of it after the first reading.

I just think very deeply at times and I watch and learn. We know we all play and muck about, but often that play and so on does go to another level and often people get hurt, because feelings get dragged into it.

But, I have realised, thorugh personal experience and through talking to and listening to others that most of the time what happens on here just isn't real, it's posturing, it's sometimes even politics (with a very small p). It's about presenting personas and sometimes de-personalizing others here. It's also about having fun and not taking things too seriously.

Like I said, pretty deep stuff. This also goes back to my "It's life Jim, but not as we know it." thread from a few weeks ago.

My intent? Nothing much, just expressing myself.

At times, I can agree with the above statements, but as I met my husband online, I have a different slant on online interaction. But I will say it depends on where I'm interacting. If I'm discussing issues on a different site dealing with grief and loss, I'm more apt to take it and other's comment more seriously than stuff I would here.

I'm learning, slowly, not to take everything and everyone so seriously; for some people, the internet is not "real," and I'd be wise to remember that. However I'd be remiss if I didn't also say that some of my longest and deepest friendships have been formed online.

Anyway, I did like the poem, I think you expressed yourself rather succinctly. :rose:

I met my hubby online too..and it's weird as the way we met and interacted was totally different to how i've interacted witheveryone else i've met online.....we we're speaking on the telephone days after meeting online...it all went quickly...

anyway before i waffle on too much ... there is a difference and you've got ot make sure people realise its all just flirting about...

or people can get screwed up and screwed over.

Oh yes, most definitely. I'm not saying that nothing online is real - far from it. I know, personally, that that isn't the case, too. Some of my longest and deepest friendships are also with people I've met online.

Oh heck, I'm not really sure what I am saying now. LOL

Take myself, for example. In "real life" I'm not exactly shy, but I am a lot more reserved and well, much better behaved! On here I am true to myself, but I am larger than life - I exaggerate myself. I don't do that in purpose, but it is very easy to slip into being silly, flirtatious and over the top when sitting in front of a screen. I am real, but this isn't the full picture of me, by a long shot.

I'm thinking too much about this now.

Thank you :rose:
