I've noticed that on the membership control panel there is a Readings Lists feature, which seems like a really good idea, but I have no idea how to use it. How does one add a story to the reading list? The obvious mechanism would be to have an "add to readings lists" feature at the end of stories, or to have such a feature visible for stories that pop up on one's feed, but I don't see anything like that. Are there instructions on this somewhere that I'm missing?

The way I understand it, that's the plan. The new version of the story pages hasn't been rolled out yet.

At least one person has figured out how to do it without that link because I've seen "Has added a story to a list" pop up in my activity feed.

In the new authors control panel, click on reading lists, then click on read later. Click on the + sign.

A search dialog will appear, enter the story title.

A list or a single story will appear. Click on the flag after the story title. Click on which list you want it in.

Now you have a story in your reading list.

Thanks. That's a helpful explanation of the feature, but the feature itself is not very helpful. What is needed is a way to add a story to a reading list when one finds the story on new story or top story lists or via some other method of browsing. Searching for a story is not, generally, a useful way of finding a story you want to read later. It puzzles me that this feature isn't available. Maybe it will be and it just hasn't been added yet.

What I've done is put the story on the conventional 'Favorite' list when I'm reading the story. Then back on my home page I move it to the list I want, just click on the blue flag to the right of the story on the favorites list, then chose what list you want to move it to.

You can make additional lists as well. I've made one entitled "watch for continuations' for stories that aren't yet finished.

Yes! In the new site design - which will be rolled out within the next few months - you will be able to add stories to reading lists while browsing anywhere on the site. :rose: In the meantime, you can add stories via the author's control panel as Zeb explained.

In order to make it work, you have to send me money.

(Sorry, I was channeling Jenny Jackson)

This is going to be a very useful feature. I've used the favorites feature to mark stories I like or want to read but don't have time to finish, and it's not optimal for that. Thanks for the heads up.
