This goes out there to all of you who can read tarot cards. My grandmother always had the gift to read tea leaves.I picked up a set of tarot cards oh years back now and i felt strange. I was able to open up myself and read the cards and have everythinhg i read and saw come true.
A few years back i kept reading them for all my friends. Great things happened. But than i started to read about the bad things that will happen to them and i got scared and put them away.
Well a few weeks ago another set of tarot cards were given to me. A real old set. ANd once i held them i felt the same magic happen all over again
Now my question is i have seen bad things while reading. Should i warn the friend....or should i let fate decide ?

in the friendly sense i think you should let fate decide
in the scintific sense i think you should seek help.

Were you reading the cards for her? While she was present? If she wasn't there, chances are you misinterpreted what you saw.

Not that this will make any difference to you -- but I'll say it anyway - not only are Tarot card not divination tools (i.e. they were never used to tell the future, despite every gypsy in every movie you've ever seen, and whatever any wicca or new age person after me posts -- it isn't true), but the only thing they do do is help a person recognize his needs, fears, desires and loves by forcing him to look at his life in manageable fragments (past, present, power, judgement, etc) instead of an overwhleming big picture.

If you're using the cards for divination you aren't using them properly. (I won't even go into the non-existant merits of divination). Think of them more as psychology tools which use human archetypes to illuminate what's already in a person's heart.

So, I'd say say nothing to your friend.

This post is for entertainment purpses only.

This should be a lengthy reply but I can't right now, so ...

I for myself do see my Tarot cards as means of "meditation" and use them to focus on the things I like to deny usually, kind of "forcing myself to be honest with me" thing ... same with "reading" them for friends - I have a friend sitting next to me and point out aspects I would want him/her to think about ... face the things we usually would like to deny, but it is always the person him/herself to come up with the meaning of a card.

I do not tell anyone this or that will happen - I point out that there are things the person should be asking themselves about at a maximum, or reflect about the real important facts in their present life circumstances etc., ... but in all honesty, usually the cards are used to get into a "intimate and open" discussion about a subject that is bothering, and I trust the truth and answers lay in each of us personally and the cards are merely a means of forcing us to face those answers specially if they are not what we want to hear.

I am in a horrible hurry right now and I guess I did not make a lot of sense in my rambling (I might come back and elaborate later today) but the point is...

Don't tell them that something BAD is going to happen - just as I do not think it is good to say something is going to happen like this and that at all, because I do think we set our path (willing or not) to what we are expecting!

Now - apart from the use of Tarot cards or any other means of Divination, I do not deny that there may be people having those extra abilities - but I have become quite carefull in trusting them as well as myself with the things I think I see soooo clearly ahead! I have been WRONG and I do not want to think about the damage I could have done by blurting it out.

DCL, you did say it a lot more "scientific" as I did, and I never tried to figure out why this style of reflection works so well - but hey!You sure are right man! It is the "cutting up" of the whole big into little slices my limited human ratio can handle.

I think of tarot as a mirror; one sees what is, at the time of reading.

There are many variables in life; I always tell any client that I don't do fortunes or futures. They have the power to alter a situation at any moment.

Most difficult outcomes are not written in stone. A hint that if things don't change, such an outcome is possible doesn't hurt.

I was looking forward to get a reply on this one from you Creamy Lady *s*

I couldn't resist. I've read them for almost 30 years.

Do you have a favorite deck, Hecate? I have about twenty-five different decks, though I usually use Daughters of the Moon.

Well said...

Dixon. I admittedly was too lazy to get involved in a discussion about what Tarot actually is. But this is why I asked if the friend was present or not. Couldn't have applied to the friend if she wasn't there...except as she related to the reader's life.
