LOL I think it's safe to say that hippies have strange minds.

That was actually really easy for me to read. They tried to get me tested for dyslexia when i was younger. They wanted to do it in 3rd grade, 6th grade, and in 8th grade. I hated the idea of being considered diferent so i wouldn't let them. I was reading a lot already by that age. By 7th grade I was digesting michael chriton books like they were cookies, yet i was failing spelling. Now i'm months form graduating college... BOOYAHH school system!

It's amazing, huh. I was always like that, too. I didn't learn to spell till my junior year - I learned it in typing class. I guess typing those words over and over finally drilled it into my head.

I actually suspect I'm at least a little dsylexic. I just tought myself memory tricks cause I was embarrassed to admit that I had problems. I was in junior high before I didn't have trouble with my b's and d's. The way I learned is my real name has a d in it, so I always wrote my name at the top of my page, so that I could jsut look at my name. hehe I still fuck up numbers if I'm not real careful.

By grade 7, I was reading Michael Crichton too and had the spelling of a grade 12 but by grade 9 or 10 - I didn't read books. Never occured to me that the text crossing itself was a problem with the eyes and not with my boredom. I could still spell like mad - only because it required me to move my hand.

Hwae, iff du cann reode þys
þann du bin off an-oþyr Centoorye!

I could read it no problems. I can also read upside down and backwards.

This probably has something to do with preferring books to people when I was a kid and pre-teen. I would sit in my room and read all day.

I can read upside down and backwards too, but if I do it too long i get a headache.

Yeah, most proficient readers can do this no problem, because when you read with any speed you are looking at not only words as a whole, but the the sentence and what makes sense in it, in the context of the paragraph, and so on.

And I give up, Xelebes, what is a Centoorye? I got the rest.

Edited to add: Centauri?

Please explain; in what way does this post differ from your usual scribblings?

lol andante

i was going to say, that if only half of us are supposed to be able to read this, why hasn't anyone posted saying they can't? but i was thinking, probably most people who frequent an online site like ours have at least some reading skills, since most of what we do on lit IS read. so, i won't say anything.

I was the same way. In preschool, my 4 year old son could also read upside down. He was the only one of the students who could read, and he'd sit on the floor and read to his friends, just like the teachers would, with the book upside down. His teachers were amazed.

Oh, and I could read the thing, too. Then again, it doesn't surprise me. I always knew I was strange. *nods*
