This is a rant. I'm not going to name names or provide links to anything. I am going to keep it general, but I had to get this out.

So I'm waiting for people to respond to my SRPs. While I wait, I read others stories on the forum.

I'm reading one that started to get me feeling nice and excited, but then one of the writers kept doing something in their posts that just KILLED the mood for me.

So the story I am reading, the characters are in a very specific arrangement. Its implied that the characters are not intentionally meant to have feelings for one another. That is perfectly fine. One character is falling for the other. Again, that's fine.

What is pissing me off is that the character who has feelings for the other has hinted and flat out said "hey, I know this isn't what we agreed to, but I love you."

I am pissed off that the writer in charge of the other character is not even acknowledging the "I love you".... Like the character didn't mentally or emotionally react. It was as if the other character never said it.

Now if you are role playing with someone and creating a story and you DON'T want the characters to be romantically evolved, then some kind of communication has to happen, OOC. Even then HAVE YOUR CHARACTER ADDRESS THE DIRECT COMMENT. Even if it's him reeling back and going "This is not what this is, this is just sex to me". But completely ignoring it does two things for me:

1. It makes me uninterested in continuing to read.
2. I have now made a mental note not to write with you.

It's a huge pet peeve of mine. If a character says something that is very profound, it need some kind of reaction. Even if it's negative, but continuing your post without some kind of exchange. Even if your character isn't saying anything I want to know what is he thinking when the other character says or does something unexpected.

Ugh, end rant. Does anyone else experience this when they are reading stories on the Lit site or in the forums?
