I just wanted to thank the readers here.

I recently submitted a story which was the 3rd chapter in a series, but dealt with different characters. In this chapter I changed the conversations that took place in the 2nd chapter and added sentences and words and chopped out things [this will teach me to start planning stories!]. I made a note at the beginning of the story that I had amended some of the conversations.

Not 1 person complained.

:rose:

Perhaps they thought it was an episode of 'The Worst Chain Story Ever'.

We have parts missing from that by design. The characters and situations change without reason or warning.

Just change the title to 'Chapter xx of The Worst...' and you'll have achieved immorality (or should that be immortality?).

I prefer immorality :D

Although it is pretty egotistical of me to presume they read the first 2 chapters :p

Depends how long the first chapters were. If they were some of mine, the reader would probably go to sleep before finishing the end of chapter one so wouldn't see any inconsistency in chapter three.

Also depends on the time between chapters. If it's over a month, people likely will have forgotten the details.

I have a story where Chapter 4 has more reads than chapter 3. So yeah, not everyone reads the previous chapters. I've randomly clicked on middle chapters myself from the new stories page, but if I like it I often go back and read the whole thing.

This is true. I wrote the first Warrior's Tale almost, if not, over three years ago. The sequel will probably be mistaken as an original work instead. *shrug*

Hey, there's worse. They could blink and miss it [like mine] ;)

It's weird how people can just jump in at ch.6 or something. I can't do it, I have to start at the beginning!

BTW - Heath, you have the sexiest voice bar Sean C. :catroar:

That's because you are thinking as an author not as a Literotica reader. Many 'chapters' on this site are not chapters of a novel but self-sufficient stroke episodes, perhaps involving the same characters, but complete in themselves.

If chapter 6 is the highest rated of that particular series, the readers will start with chapter 6.

You are assuming, as I used to, that chapter 1 comes before chapter 2 and that there is a logical progression and a development of the plot and growth of the characters as the story progresses. That isn't necessary if the chapters are just 'Mark fucks his sister Mary'; 'Mark fucks his sister Mary again', 'Mark gives Mary one in the Ass', 'Mary pushes her strap-on up her brother's Ass', 'Mark's Ass kicks Mark in the Nuts', etc.
