re: anonymous feedback ettiquette

What is the proper protocol for receiving anonymous feedback? should you email them to their address and say thank you? what if they made some questions? should I answer them?

Apparently yours are having a hard time with the whole anonymity business. Most of the ones I've "met" don't give you an e-mail address. I hate reading answers from authors in the comments, though. Just a personal peeve.

In general, I don't respond to commenters unless they send me something directly to my email. Then I always respond, assuming they provide an email address. If they leave a comment on my story page I just let it sit there (meaning I don't respond to them on my story page). :)

If you know how to contact them, they aren't anonymous. If you've received anonymous comment via e-mail through Literotica, hitting reply will deadend back at Literotica (and they ask that you not reply this way). If the anonymous comment was left tagged to your story, you can certainly respond there if you wish.

I responded to an anonymous comment on my story, but it required me to rate it. I don't like rating my own story (although I did give it 5 stars anyway ;). It would be nice if authors could reply without rating.

I believe that it was mentioned that this is a feature in the works, along with some other upgrades to public comments.

Rumor has it that any vote you make on your own story is certain to vanish in a sweep, anyway. If that's correct, your rating won't actually change anything in the long run.

I think protocol for any anonymous comment is to not reply, -they have wanted to be left alone - whether the comment is positive or negative. Even if you have a mail address, which, as sr said, is unlikely.

Why? I love it when an author makes a comment on one of my stories, even if it is just, 'good luck in the contest'.

Totally agree. Public comments are like comments on a blog - always worth reading and moderating - but not in the correspondence category. Personal emails are totally different though.

This was covered a while back. Apparently etiquette/protocol has it that, under present rules, an author is totally justified - indeed encouraged - in making a comment and voting 100%. If you have voted on your story before your second vote will be swept. If it is your first vote why kick yourself.

As Dark says, Manu is looking at the system, but until it changes - always give your comments 100% - you believe in them, don't you?
