Name: Dazzle
Real Name: Lisa 'Slink' Patchett
Age: 21
Height: 1.78 m
Weight: 58 kg
Measurements: 34DD-24-34
Description: (Visual Reference) Either through genetics or exposure to something in her environment, Lisa discovered at a very early age that she had a preternatural ability to move quickly and quietly, to scale any wall, and to hide in any shadow. Lisa was born into the proverbial broken home and, finding herself with the resources to provide for herself, ran away from her home at age seven. She was taken in by a group of other children with unique abilities, ran by a man who called himself Fagin. Lisa soon earned the moniker Slink and became one of Fagin's best thieves.

At age 13, Lisa broke into the warehouse of a local museum. The museum had recently received items recovered from a dig in Western Africa, including a pendant with a very unusual looking garnet in it. Lisa was not impressed with the small, portable items and took the garnet almost as an afterthought.

Fortunately and unfortunately for Lisa, the garnet had been a pendant for the high priestess of a heretofore unknown sect. A high priestess that Lisa bore a remarkable resemblance to. So in a flash of light, the pendant disappeared, and was absorbed by Lisa's body, giving Lisa the divine powers once bestowed on the high priestess of the sect.

Lisa gained the power to "sidestep" reality, allowing her to go through walls, and also allowing her to teleport short distances.

She also had control of what she called her "dazzle field", a field of tiny lights which surrounded her, in varying degrees of brightness. She could even create balls or streams from the field for various purposes.

But the "dazzle field" was also the bane of her new powers. It didn't allow anyone to touch her. No matter whether it was with bare skin or a metallic glove, anyone who touched her would slowly but surely have their life force drained from them.

Lisa, soon to be Dazzle, took her leave from Fagin and headed to greener pastures. By the age of 21, she had become a premiere jewel thief, wealthy beyond belief, and living the good life on a Caribbean island with lax banking laws and no extradition treaty. If she wanted to, she didn't ever have to steal again. Unless it was something she really, really wanted. Like a priceless tiara. Because every little girl wants to be a princess, doesn't she? And a princess has to have a tiara, doesn't she?

=====

Captain Mark Donners of the Royal Armored Police would be glad when this night was over. The Duke and Duchess had been having a gala in celebrating their eldest grandson's wedding, which included bringing up rare and precious jewelry from the ducal vault for the last three nights. This included a diamond tiara that sported a huge emerald, reportedly the largest cut emerald in the world. So everyone from the local constabulary to the national police had been involved in guarding it, including the men of Captain Donners' squad, four men in the most advanced armor the world had ever seen.

For the first two nights, it appeared the presence of Captain Donners' squad had deterred any supervillain who might even consider stealing the jewels. Still, Donners would be glad when this night w---

Donners thought was interrupted by the sound of startled people and a blast of dazzling light. Donner groaned, knowing who it was.

In the middle of the ballroom stood a beautiful, dark-skinned woman wearing a fashionable but very revealing purple ball gown. Normally, most of the men in the ballroom, as well a few of the woman, would have been openly ogling her. But the small tiny dots of light dancing around her made it an entirely different situation. The ducal gala had been crashed by the supervillainess known as Dazzle.

"Your honors," she began, looking up at the startled Duke and Duchess, "I really apologize. I really meant to be here on time. Look, I got a new dress and everything. And I would have been here on time, but I took this wrong turn at Albuquerque..."

Donner and his men quickly entered the ballroom, surrounding Dazzle. "Don't move," he ordered, as the men pointed their weapons at her.

"Oh come on, Lancelot," she told the Captain. "Look, I got a brand new dress and everything. And it's not off the rack. Designer original. I swear."

Captain Donners detached a pair of high-tech handcuffs from his belt. "Put your hands in front of you so I can hold you for arrest."

Dazzle looked at him with puppy dog eyes and sang, "I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne. Yes?" she added hopefully. As she saw the Captain approach with a no nonsense attitude, she shook her head and replied to herself in a sad little voice, "No." Shrugging, she put a hand to her cheek and in her best southern belle drawl, exclaimed, "On dear. The heroes have me surrounded. Whatever shall I do?" Dazzle held up a single finger, a bright smile on her face. "I know! Boombaby!"

Captain Donners heard an audible pop behind him. He barely had the time to utter, "Oh sh---" when it felt like a wrecking ball hit his head. He heard a deep bass voice shout out, "Boom baby!" as he went flying across the room.

A huge, pale man had appeared out of the thin air and began assaulting the rest of Captain Donners' men, while a huge solid fountain of white sparks formed over Dazzle, apparently to protect her from flying debris and armored men. And Boombaby made short work of them. High tech weaponry, electronically enhanced strength, it didn't matter. Boombaby shrugged off anything that hit him, and when he made contact, he'd bellow "Boom baby!" as another armored man went flying.

As soon as the noise died down, Dazzle emerged from the fading fountain of sparks. "Certainly glad I broke you out of prison again!"

Boombaby gave Dazzle a crooked grin and replied, "Boom baby!"

"Got to admire a man of few words," Dazzle acknowledged. Looking around at the mess created by the battle, she turned back to the Duke and Duchess. "I'd like to point out that this is not my fault. So don't send your insurance adjusters and barristers and guys in fancy white wigs after me. I'd just came to show off my pretty new dress and get a glass of champagne. I can do that you know. I'm 21, so it's legal. And I also came to see...oh!" Dazzle's eyes lit upon the ducal jewels placed behind a clear, heavy display case. Her eyes zeroed on the emerald crested tiara. She walked toward it, as if in a daze. One of the pages decided this was his chance, and rushed her. She casually tossed a small ball of dazzles at him, not even looking at him. As soon as the ball hit him, he crumpled and fell.

"So beautiful," Dazzle said, shaking her head and wiping a tear from her eye. She touched the electronic keypad on the lock and sparks emerged from her fingertip, frying it. The door opened easily and Dazzle reached in and took the tiara, placing it on her head.

"Oh, it fits perfectly!" she said, turning around and looking at the stunned crowd. Boombaby nodded his head and said "Boom baby!" in agreement.

There was another audible pop and two large suitcases appeared on either side of Dazzle. "Boombaby, would you go ahead and fill up the cases?" she asked. "I'm just a little too overwhelmed right now." Boombaby nodded and opened the cases, his huge hands shoveling in the jewels.

Dazzle looked up at the Duke and Duchess, who were staring at her mortified silence. She nodded to them before saying, "You know, I really do want world peace."

Name:Recall
Real Name: Jason 'Brains' Addams
Age:23
Height:185cm
Weight:90kg
Description:Visual Referance Jason was born a son of serving Marine parents. His mother took four years off active duty, working a desk job while raising him before once again going back into active service when he was able to go to school. His family was the 2nd regiment. All of them helped raise him and the other kids when their parents were assigned off base. It was not as if his Parents abandoned him. They were home most of the time, some times one of them, some times together, but occasionally they were both deployed at the same time and then he would stay with his 'Aunts' and 'Uncles'.
It was a good life and he grew up a typical Service brat, moving a bit from country to country when he got older and learning new languages. By the time he was ten he knew how to kill a man fifteen different ways unarmed, Five different types of martial arts, shoot ten different firearms, and could hit a bulls eye with a sniper rifle from a kilometer away.
Then on his thirteenth birthday he began to notice a few changes happening to him. His skin began to get a lot harder, he began to get a lot faster and then one day he started floating. He had also been getting a lot smarter. He could pick up a book and skim through it and know everything about whatever was in it. He had fixed his mums car simply by flicking through the manual and a basic mechanics book. The job had then taken him an hour, when he had not even known where to begin at the start.

He had kept quiet about it until his parents had started discussing him joining the military. It had always been his dream, but now with these powers he knew what would happen. He broke the news and they had been supportive. He would of course fight the good fight in his own way, he just would not be a Marine like they had all hoped. At 18 he left and went to New York to study. By 20 he was teaching. His powers had come into there own and were developing rapidly.

Any book he read he retained for up to seven days as long as it was only basic information. So Mechanics, cooking, sewing was all retained for that period. More complex things like Quantum mechanics, Theory of Relativity and Brain surgery would only be retained for two or three days. However he could relearn them after a week had passed. What was more amazing to him however was the superpowers.

He himself had what he called his basic package. Flight, Strength, Resistance, and Speed. He could fly at Mach1. Lift up to 5 tonne. Was resistant to both heat and cold and could take a shot up to full automatic fire. His top running speed was about 600kmh. So all in all a basic all round package. What he found out accidentally was that he could use any superpower he had observed, once a day, every day for sixty seconds. That included any he had seen on TV. He tried to use ones he had seen in books and comics but they didn't work, so it was like opposite to his learning ability.

He had dubbed himself Recall and been performing rescues and arresting criminals just like he had told his parents he would.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jason read the papers and knew that Dazzle would strike again. He had been after her for a couple of years now, ever since he had found out about her theft from a colleague in the ancient History department. He had been teaching Archaeology and Ancient History that semester (The college used him to fill in for professors taking breaks as he seemed to be able to teach anything) and they had been talking about ancient tombs, and the thefts that had occurred from them. Of course Dazzles theft had come up and he was amazed. He never knew that was how she had gotten her powers. He had done some more research and thought he may have a way to separate the stone from her body. Of course he had to catch the thief first.

He had almost caught her several times, but each time she slipped away and he had only managed to subdue BoomBaby her sidekick. It was getting frustrating. She had been quiet lately but he knew the display of the crown jewels was bound to bring her out.

It had taken him longer to fly here than he thought, (damn head winds) and as he used his borrowed x-ray vision he saw that both Dazzle and BoomBaby had all ready arrived and done a number on the local security and had the jewels in their possession. Damn, how was he going to play this? Busting in could harm civilians but he couldn't just allow her to teleport away, he had no way of knowing where her escape vehicle was. Fine then it was time for something a little different. He waited until his sixty seconds was up and his x-ray vision shut off then landed on the roof. Then smiling he activated one of Dazzles own powers and slipped into a shadow and suddenly reappeared inside the ballroom. Boy that was handy he smiled. He was close to BoomBaby who was cleaning out the cases and behind him Dazzle was playing up to her captive crowd. Smiling He rushed out of the shadows at almost 500kph and uppercut BoomBaby right on the jaw. The big guy flew all the way to the ceiling, crashing into it, then falling back down to the floor and making a large hole in the ground and laying still. Recall Looked at Dazzle and shook his head and finger at her. "Dazzle are you being a naughty girl again. I told you last time what would happen. Now put the Tiara back and come peacefully. Let's not do this dance again."

Dazzle rolled her eyes in exasperation, then turned her gaze to the still stupefied Duke and Duchess. "The paparazzi," she exclaimed in an melodramatic voice. "A girl just can't go anywhere without running into them." Turning to Recall, she grinned. "Recall, we have got to stop meeting like this. People are beginning to talk. But I learned a new step since the last time you were on my dance card. Are you watching?"

Dazzle cupped her hands palm upwards and a spinning ball of light appeared in it, just enough to fill her hands. And as soon as it appeared, it disappeared.

"Where did it go, George? Where did it go?" Dazzle said in a cartoonish voice.

There was a large howl and BoomBaby jumped out of the hole. He took one look at Recall and bellowed "Boom Baby!"

"Boombaby actually has a rather simplistic nervous system, so it's easy to jump start him," Dazzle explained as she walked over and picked up the now full suitcases. "In fact, he's kind of juiced now, and considering the fact that you're the one who knocked him out, it should be an even fight. Oh, I almost forget." A yellow envelope with a stylized R on it appeared in the now empty display case.

"You boys don't play too rough, and remember to pick up after yourselves when you're finished," Dazzle admonished, disappearing with a pop as an enraged and supercharged Boombaby rushed at Recall.

-----

(Contents of letter)

Dear Recall,

I just knew you were going to show up tonight, so my first question is, did you think I looked hot in that dress? How about the tiara? Did you think they clashed? Maurice, that's my dress designer, he has a line in Paris, anyway, he assured me the two would complement each other, but I still don't know.

Okay, look, I'm going to retire now. I mean, I've got a big screen TV with a mansion around it, all the Disney princess movies and now a tiara. How cool is that? But I kind of feel bad for you, because what are you going to do now? They always put Boombaby in one of those places that I'm the only one who can get him out, so you can't chase him anymore. And I'm living on MCHammer Island. Can't touch this!

Seriously, you really can't touch me! It's kind of wrong that a big old hero like you can't just grab a bad girl like me and take her to jail, but that's what the UN and the ICJ and all those alphabets said, not without extradition treaties and due process or overdue books or something like that.

So anyway, you should come visit me at my mansion sometime. I might even tell you who I sold all the ducal jewels to, if you bring me a corsage. Except the tiara. I'm keeping that! You got to admit, I look damn good in it!

Oh, and sorry if Boombaby kills you. In that case, I'll understand if you don't accept my invitation.

DAZZLES!

Recall looked at where Dazzle had just disappeared and cursed. He had managed to flick a small nano tracer onto one of the suitcases and was hoping to trace her whereabouts quickly with that knowing she couldn't teleport too far or too often in a row. He thought by taking out BoomBaby his plan was going to succeed, but now he had a juiced up sidekick on his case and a hundred or so civilians to protect. This was not how he had planned this.

At the best of times, He and Boom were on about the same power level, his only advantage was his smarts and training which normally won out. Now though he could see by the corded muscles and crazed look in his eyes that the bad guy was on a whole nother level. He had to do something and he had to do something fast before the big guy went crazy. Luckily he did have a guy stored for just such an occasion. He activated the powers of the mighty Juggernaut. This guy was an unstoppable force. He would have exactly sixty seconds to take down Boom but he doubted he would have the strength to topple this guy and would just try hammering him, after all that was Booms style.

Sure enough Boom started with a haymaker that would have sent him through the wall shouting his trademark "Boom Baby". He just stood there and smiled at him and Boom blinked staring at him in puzzlement. He launched punch after punch alternating with "Boom" Punch, "Baby" Punch. After 20 seconds he started to grow tired and Recall could see his charge wearing off. It was his turn. He started with a punch to the guts that lifted him off his feet a little then a crushing blow to his jaw that would normally have laid him out but just staggered him. he kicked him once in his right thigh then again in his left staggering the big man then a one two punch in his kidneys. While he was reeling he got him in a proper sleeper hold and started to choke him. This was not one of those holds you saw on those wrestling shows, this was the real thing and within ten seconds the big man was out and slumped on the floor.

Recall looked around and quickly pulled out his tracker but dazzle was already out of range. He moved over to the case and retrieved the letter then grabbed a set of cuffs from one of the downed armored suits and locked Boombaby up. He approached the Duke and Duchess and kneeled before them. "I am sorry I wasn't able to prevent the theft your majesties, but I will do everything in my power to retrieve your stolen goods. If you get in touch with the UN they will have a team here quickly to pick up BoomBaby and take him to some secure facility. I just hope that this time it will hold him."

He rose up and then exited the building before flying upwards then at a thousand feet he ripped open and read her letter. Cursing he stored it back in his pocket and then took off towards her island. Maybe if he was quick enough she wouldn't have time to fence the jewels. Of course he would have to stop and buy her a corsage. What sort of flower went well with purple?

Dazzle made it home just in time to catch the evening news. She was a little disappointed that they used a stock photo of her, rather than her in her new dress and new tiara. Still, she looked good in the photo they used, and part of her was secretly pleased that Recall had won the battle.

She giggled at the reaction she knew he had upon reading her letter, almost as much as she giggled at the fact that the nanotracer he had thrown on her luggage had done no good. The first thing she had done after her first sidestep was to encapsulate both suitcases with a dazzle field, guaranteed to fry any electronics, great or small. Then she made three more sidesteps to the giant sidestep she had prepared days ago. It wasn't something she could do "on the fly," and it was her best kept secret. Of course, maybe Recall did know about it, and was hoping to trace her back to one before she used it..

Recall, she thought, shaking her head. Dazzle had had a run in with a lot of superheroes over the years, but Recall had seemed to make her capture a personal calling. She wondered what she had done to get under his skin?

Not that it mattered. This was going to be her crowning achievement. She giggled at the unintentional pun. She moved in front of a full length mirror, adjusting the tiara. Her aide chose that moment to walk in.

"The negotiations are underway, ma'am," her aid told her.

"I'll be down for the final touches," she answered. "I'm expecting a late night guest," she added.

The aide gave a slight bow of her head before leaving the bedroom. Dazzle took one last look at herself in the mirror, then stepped out onto a balcony, enjoying the tropical night and a cool sea breeze.

"Oh, Recall, Recall," she called out, "Wherefore art thou, Recall?"

Damn why did her island have to be so far away. It had been almost morning when she had struck the Ducal palace and now here he was flying back into the night again. Ahh he hated going backwards around the world, it really messed up his internal time clock. Finally he spotted her island away in the distance as he flew over the mainland. Nothing was open at this hour of course so he looked around and finally spotted some things he could use.

He flew down and found some thin wire, a pair of discarded underwear, and some beautiful white flowers. Quickly he had the flowers weaved onto the wire and the elastic from the underwear wrapped around it with a hand loop left over. He looked at it and gave a slight nod. Not too shabby at all. He continued on to her island at a reduced speed so he didn't damage the corsage and then landed at her front door. Grabbing the large door knocker he swung it and knocked twice and then waited.

There was an audible "pop" as Dazzle suddenly appeared at the front door.

"Recall, you came!" she exclaimed happily, clapping her hands together, "and you brought...something," she added, looking at Recall's homemade corsage. "Well, it doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts, although I don't know what you were thinking." Dazzle touched the homemade corsage and it disappeared with a pop.

"But where are my manners? Come in, come in!" she said, opening up the door to a grand foyer of marble and polished wood that led to a modern entertainment center and a spiraling staircase.

"I was just saying to Marie the other day...she's the major domo of the place," Dazzle explained, "Marie, I never get to have an actual conversation with Recall. We're usually too busy with work. Me stealing something, him unsuccessfully trying to stop me. Not that that's a reflection on you as a person," she quickly added.

"Okay, honest opinion time," Dazzle said, the tiara popping in her hand as she stepped in front of Recall. Settling it on her head, she asked. "Does it go with the dress? Yes or no? Be honest now!"

Recall didn't know whether to be angry or laugh. She had dismissed his homemade corsage like it was nothing and then had invited him into her mansion like a giddy schoolgirl. What she was saying was actually the truth, they never really did get to have an honest conversation. Mostly it was just threats and barbs aimed at one another as they chased each other through whatever city she happened to be in at the time.

Normally he would have to subdue Boombaby first, and he was not the best of conversationalist's and by the time he had Dazzle was long gone. So he was going to actually take the time and treat this like an actual normal visit between two people.

He looked her up and down and studied her dress, her hair, makeup and the Tiara. He had to admit it looked damn good on her as did the dress. It hugged her every curve and accentuated them nicely. He had always known that she had a good figure, but in that dress she was stunning, and with the Tiara on she looked positively Regal. The only blemish was her makeup. Someone had gone a tad overboard. Not quite into the tacky range but you could tell it was a little to much for the style she was trying to pull off. Princess should be subdued and subtle. She had more of the glamour model look. It still looked good but could have been a whole lot better.

"Okay I have to admit, it looks stunning on you Dazzle. You can definitely pull off the Regal look. I applaud your fashion designer and hairstylist, but fire your makeup artist. You should be subdued and elegant not all glamour model. Don't get me wrong you look good, but you look more Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, when you should look Princess Grace of Monaco."

Dazzle stopped in front of one of the ornate mirrors hanging on the wall. She studied herself for a moment. She nodded at her reflection, then turned to Recall. "Good call! Of course, with my dazzle field on all the time..." the field flared up briefly, then returned to its normal subdued state..."and the fact that Marie can't actually touch me when I'm doing my makeup---" Dazzle just shook her head and laughed. "Now I'm just making up lame excuses. So, Recall, can I get you a drink? A cigar? Show you where the ducal jewels are being fenced?"

"Actually a drink would be nice," he told her hoping to surprise her a little. "I can get those jewels back anytime, but actually sitting down and talking to you like this, well it is rather pleasant isn't it. Perhaps you would care to actually invite me in and we could actually sit down and have a long conversation. You know get to know each other a little better instead of trying to pummel each others heads in. After all it has been what, three years now since we started this merry go round ride?"

"Why Recall, I never tried to pummel you. I mean, I've tossed a dazzle ball at you now and then, but brute violence? Not my style." Dazzle led Recall to a sitting area, gesturing toward a couch as she stepped behind a bar in the corner. "And you might find it more difficult than you think to recover those jewels, considering where they're going," Dazzle added with a giggle.

"I've got a fully stocked bar, cowboy, so what'll be? Sasparilla? Root beer?" she asked with a snicker.

"Actually I really like lemon squash. Sorry I don't drink much and no it is not because I am a goody goody or upholding some high morals. I just don't like alcohol all that much," he smiled at her.

"Oh and if you really do want to tell me where the jewels are going it would be nice. I kind of promised the Duke and Duchess I would get them back and you wouldn't want to make a liar out of me now would you," he asked in a little boys voice then smiled.

"I've got that in a bottle. Is it okay if it's in a bottle?" Dazzle asked, as she pulled a bottle our from the bar's fridge. The bottle disappeared from Dazzle's hand and reappeared on the table near Recall.

"And would you believe, even as we speak, down at my boathouse, a nun and an insurance agent have successfully negotiated the jewels safe return to the ducal vaults? Except this, of course," Dazzle added as she adjusted the tiara on her head. "I'm keeping this. So I only made you a little bit of a liar. Not much, just a little. Say, that would be a great joke, wouldn't it? A nun, a superhero and an insurance adjuster walk into a bar. But what for the punchline?"

Last edited:
"A punchline huh," Recall pondered sipping his lemon squash. "Well how about, the Nun walked into the bar and hurt her head, the superhero flew down to assist her and knocked the bar flying which hit the insurance adjuster in his head and knocked him out. Of course the other two laughed."

Recall studied her face to gauge her reaction. She was normally big on jokes so he was wondering how this would play out. As a joke it was not all that funny, but it was quirky and the best he could come up with on the spur of the moment.

"Meh," Dazzle said, making a 'so-so' gesture with one hand. "One for content, seven for effort." Dazzle grabbed a coke from the fridge and sat opposite of Recall. "So you should be happy," Dazzle said as she opened the bottle. "The ducal jewels are going back to their owners, and the insurance company pays the Sisters a hefty recovery fee that they use for their orphanage. I don't even ask for a cut. Confidentially," Dazzle said, leaning forward, "I've actually done better on the investments from my ill gotten loot then the loot itself. My broker? Genius. Absolute genius. And," Dazzle said with a sigh, adjusting the tiara on her head, "Sister Teresa is going to pester me until I return this, so the Duke and Duchess will get it back too. Eventually. So all that and a lemon squash too. You should be a happy Recall!"

Recall sighed. He should be. The Jewels were actually going back and he really didn't care that he was not the one that was taking them back. He was not in this for the glory like a few of the other Superhero's. He had his powers and like his parents he thought it was his duty to use them to protect the world.

However something just didn't feel right here. In fact something hadn't felt right with the last few capers of Dazzle's. When she had started out it was all about the money and it didn't matter who got in the way. She and Boom had been notorious. Now though she planned these things carefully and hardly anyone ever got hurt and it was normally their own fault for disobeying her orders and trying something stupid. She had even done several jobs on her own instead of breaking out Boom when finesse had been called for over brawn, something she would never have done in the early years.

Now there was this. It looked like the Tiara was just a loophole for her so she could make money for these Nuns. Just how many other times had she done something similar. It probably had something to do with her field. He had begun researching the jewel when she took it and he had found out some interesting things, especially about how the last user (the high priestess) had actually died.

"So Dazzle isn't that a bit out of character for you? It almost sounds like you were helping someone. Are you branching out into my territory or whats the story?"

Dazzle shrugged. "Recall, you can only have so many toys. I mean, first off all, there aren't that many places I can live without someone like you having the legal right to break down my door and take me to jail. And this isn't that big of an island, so why would I need more than one mansion? Plus, I'm a simple girl with simple tastes. Well," she added with a grin as she adjusted her tiara, "mostly simple. Here, let me get you a refill." An unopened bottle of lemon squash appeared next to Recall.

"Plus," she added, finishing her own coke off, "a few years back, one of the insurance guys tried to double cross me, so I popped into their headquarters late at night and did some digging And the things I learned!" Dazzle fanned herself with her hand. "When it came to villainy, they made me feel like a rank amateur! Then I discovered they were trying to screw over this orphanage. All this insurance company needed was a guy twirling his mustache. Now, by this point, I had all the money I needed, so I decided to have a little fun. Plus, I had to give you some gainful employment," she added with a laugh.

Recall laughed with her. "You do know you aren't the only villain in the world right? You are just the only one I have never been able to catch," he said as he opened his second bottle and started to drink. "Believe me I have more than my share of 'Gainful employment' as you put it to go around. Why just last week I had to stop Dr Destructo from launching another death ray into orbit, Crimson Streak from trying to break the world record of most banks hit in one day by a single criminal organization, all by herself, Cold Snap from turning half of Freedom City into a giant snow globe and the Fem Squad from blowing up the national museum. I never did find out why they wanted to do that," he said puzzled. "Oh and that doesn't count all the petty crime and citizens saved. That is just part of the job," he smiled.

He took another drink and looked at her. "Of course there is just something special about you Dazzle. Call it the lure of the one that got away, call it a fascination, hell call it what you want, there is just something about you that draws me out every time there is a whisper that you are ready to commit another crime."

Actually Recall knew what it was that had him chasing Dazzle all the time but he wouldn't admit that to her. That would give her far too much power over him, and besides Hero's weren't allowed to do that sort of thing with Villains. It just wasn't done. he was sure it was in that non existent handbook somewhere, right up there with never break the law, and always protect the innocent.

"Aw shucks and other nonsense," Dazzle said, giggling and blushing. "Now you're making me go all girly." Dazzle found herself yawning. "Excuse me! I guess it's been a longer day than I thought, and I don't have your big muscles," she added with a laugh. "Listen, why don't you take a guest bedroom and stay the night? We can continue this conversation over breakfast. You know I'm not the kind of girl who will spring a death ray on you in your sleep and these..." Dazzle held a small ball of dazzles in her hand..."put the damper on any vamping attempts I might want to make."

"Well that's a mighty generous offer Dazzle and one I think I will take you up on." Recall walked over to her and then he activated a power he had seen used with devastating effect and knew would surprise her greatly. He leaned over and kissed her on her cheek, her actual cheek. "Well goodnight then, I will try to find a room that is not taken and I will see you in the morning."

He walked out and once he was more than ten feet away he saw her sparkles again out of the corner of his eye. He had used a guy's power called 'Lights Out'. He had the ability to turn off any sort of power there was in his basic vicinity, be it magic, super, mutant. The problem was he didn't effect technological things so super suits still worked against him.

Still Recall wondered how long it had been since Dazzle had actually had her physical body touched. He walked out the door and shut it behind him and then went about finding a room.

Dazzle just stood there, stunned. It wasn't the first time she had been touched since she had become Dazzle. But all the other times had been physical attacks by people who didn't know better, or should have known better. And they had paid for their folly.

This

This was a kiss.

It had been

Nice

Dazzle couldn't remember ever being kissed. Ever.

Is this what Aurora felt like, when she woke up?

Dazzle wondered if Recall could do that again? And would he?

Dazzle felt as if she wee sleepwalking as she went back to her room. She put the tiara on her end table, kicked off her shoes, climbed into bed fully clothed and promptly fell asleep, and dreamed of a flying prince fighting a dragon made up of a thousand sparkling lights.

Recall had found a spare room and had promptly fallen into bed. He was absolutely exhausted. Anyone who thought superheros did not get tired should spend a day in his shoes. Still at least tonight he was sleeping in a huge bed in a large room that was half the size of his apartment. Whoever said that crime doesn't pay should come and have a look at Dazzle's place.

Still tonight he wouldn't think about that, he was just here to get a good nights sleep and talk to her more in the morning. He had that information he wanted to share and there had been that matter of the kiss. He had not expected to enjoy it so much, but her reaction had been rather sweet. Perhaps tomorrow he may give her another one. He actually had three people who had similar powers like that so he could have three minutes at least. It might not sound like much, but a lot could be done in three minutes if you knew you had a time limit, he chuckled. With that pleasant thought he drifted off to sleep and dreamed of bright sparkly lights, and a cheeky smile.

The next morning Dazzle had composed herself. She was once again the self-assured mistress of the high profile, high society crime. That kiss last night...meant nothing. She had decided it was a ploy by Recall to make sure she actually did retire. He wanted to show her that he could circumvent her powers, but in an innocuous way as possible, of course.

Well, two could play at that game. She had already come up with a way around his tactics, if he tried that stratagem again. But Dazzle didn't think Recall could pull that rabbit out of his hat again. But just in case, she was ready.

Dazzle was sitting underneath her veranda, attired in a light green, flowing night gown with a plunging neckline, watching the sun come over the beach. She tightened the matching robe she was wearing against the morning sea breeze, but still left her cleavage exposed.

One of her staff brought out her breakfast of coffee and toast, for which she promptly thanked them. She then instructed that the chef make "a hearty breakfast" for Recall, and to have it served out here.

Recall woke up and looked around, confused at first about his surroundings. Once he had his bearings he groaned a little then got up and headed to the en suite bathroom. Taking a quick shower while blurring his face with high speed, he got out and dried off. He looked at his suit and wrinkled his nose. He hated to put on old clothes after a shower. Sighing he used up a power to teleport his old suit home and get a new one here. He kept three or four in handy summoning circles back at his apartment for occasions such as this. Changing and donning his mask he headed down to see what Dazzle was up to.

He was directed to a veranda area where she was sitting at a small table eating a delicate breakfast watching the sun come up. He was actually surprised she was up. She was wearing a light green robe and must have only had a nightgown or something underneath it because she had ample cleavage showing.

He sat down opposite her in the only other chair and smiled at her. "Good morning Dazzle. A beautiful morning is it not.. I must say I envy you your views, much better than the dirty smelly city. Still some of us have to work for a living," he sighed.

"I'll have you know it's not all fun and games on my end of things," Dazzle answered with a musical laugh. "There's always the tenacious hero to plan for and, believe it or not, there truly is no honor among thieves. Oh, the convoluted schemes that I have to continually decline. And some folks hate hearing 'No' for an answer. But the fact of the matter is, appearances to the contrary, I really am a simple girl. A beachfront view, a few shiny baubles, a hero to keep me on my toes," she added with a wink. "What else could a girl ask for? Rule this, control that..." Dazzle closed her eyes and shook her head. "Too much work. Cuts down on time I could spend with sand between my toes."
