A is smelling good like roses or cookies baking or leather, whatever you like

F is a morbidly obese Dom's shit filled buttcrack, or a rotting skunk

oooo, well my vote is only relevant to a few months ago...i've not read here regularly since before christmas.

but at that point the atmos was pungent in a bad way.

call me crazy but i have bugger all interest in "use the search function" and reading what people i don't know said about a topic kinda related to what i want over a year ago.
i like to see new threads, hear new takes, talk to the people who are here now.

oh, and noobs weren't allowed to ask stupid questions and make dumb mistakes without being flamed off the board...

as the thread said, has this become a forum of librarians? it had, but it might have changed. i wouldn't know coz i never really came back.

have things changed?

A,B,C,D,F.....what happened to E? LOL, sorry, but is one of those things that jump out at me, especially now I am trying to learn another language...assume it was a typo.

There may be an E now. We need morninggirl's input. An E would be failing, but send the little fuckers up to the next grade anyway.

My vote?

*C*...

Though (as dolf said earlier) a few months ago this place was bordering on *G* as in "this gawdawful place needs major overhaulage". However, recently, the board seems to be on an upswing.

It's been a very long time for me, but I think in American school grading systems they skip E for some reason and go straight from D to F. Never thought to wonder why but now I am. Anybody know?

E means excellent in some grading systems. You would have E for excellent, S for satisfactory and I for incomplete.
They omitted the E so no confusing will be had.

I can't answer this as I wan't reading anything here before Christmas and so don't know what it was like, but why don't you read a few threads and see for yourself? I don't see too much newbie bashing going on, and certainly nothing close to what happens on the GB. I took a few hits in February or whenever it was that I first started posting regularly but I am very opinionated and outspoken and _always_ take those sorts of hits, no matter where I post, from regulars who feel threatened when I first start to write--so you can't count that as representative.

One other good thing about this fourm, which is also indicative of possible brain power, is that its attention span is about 50 times longer than that of the GB's. Threads that are of interest to you just don't peter out after a few replies that barely scratch the surface. A serious question isn't instantly answered with half a dozen lame attempts at humor. Also, 90% of our threads don't devolve into meaningless and empty flirting or flamewars the way they tend to on the GB, although we do have a certain sneaky little pirate hijacker in here who is expert at derailing even the most serious of discussion or sending it careening off in some bizarre direction, lol, but even he can't be in all threads at the same time--although he does try. ;)

LOL, never mind....the way I see it all forums have room for change and improvement simply because they usually have a moving population of people who have a variety of needs and wants, none of which can be 100% met at any given time. Add to that those people have good and bad days and it becomes impossible to reach that magical perfection. Some personalities will clash, some will want to be the stars, some will prefer to observe, and some will just be happy to be in a place where they feel accepted or at least tolerated, welcomed or ignored...much like real life everyday. It is the diversity which makes it work and continue to grow, the participation of those who contribute in any way, and the changes which make some feel uneasy. Without all those elements it losses a lot of it's ability to offer new things as well as experience, to continue as a living thing. There will be days which are diamonds and days which are far from being pearls, but regardless, it takes input to keep it going. :)

Ah hah! That clears it up. Now that you mention it, I remember that I did go to one school for one year where they used that alternate grading system.

I usually only lurk on BDSM.
Your forum is a little slow...but whatev, I like it anyway. At least when its not scary. :D

How about "other"? I really no longer care about the atmosphere here. Just pop in now and again to see what has or hasn't changed.

I have not been here long but,

a) the people here are pretty nice, mostly intelligent, and fairly articulate
b) the other thread i hang on out is one for high schoolers and college students (I am the Old Man Rev. Doc) and i like to go back and forth between adult and juvenile conversations.
c) as a new comer to bdsm i found people to be very helpful here. I made some very good friends, who talked me through a host of issues.
d) occasionally this forum can be very funny.

So i gave it a b...it has rhythm and you can dance to it.

I give it a C. Better, but still room for improvement in a number of areas.

I know you were waiting for my august commentary, WD.. there you go.

How do you grade a forum? I think we'd first have to agree on categories. We'd score really high on catchy thread titles. Take a moment and compare ours to the GLBT group. And they are supposed to be the creative ones.

Friendliness to newcomers: Is it good to be nice? Or kewl to be cruel?

Moisture = 35% humidity
Pet dander = .002
Aerosols, paint outgassing and other chemicals of unknown origin: 5%

In terms of friendliness to newcomers, I have a couple of things to say. Whilst this might not be a "ohmygodyou'renewsitdownletmegetyouacupofteaandadounutandtellmeallaboutyourself" kind of atmosphere I think that kind of goes with the territory in that lit is a fairly big place and a lot of newbies post here, and some may only post once and then you never see them again. Not to mention the fact that some of them post gibberish or are alts of other obnoxious posters. So I think its sort of fair enough that whilst most newbies get a sort of polite welcome, I think theres a sort of prove yourself thing that goes on before you are really taken seriously.

I don't see this as a bad thing, actually. The sense of commuinity is a lot stronger here than on some of the other boards I've been to (eg collarme) where people are usually desperate to welcome people but friendships kind of come and go and fizzle and die and people get bored and move on all the time. I like the fact that here there seem to be a lot of genuine friendships and you can really get to know people (or at least their online personas). Having said this, I have sent a number of established posters PM's with questions etc here and have recieved nothing but a welcoming and positive response. I think, as a general rule, if you post regularly and have something interesting to say, you will soon start to make friends and feel welcome. Relatively little bitching has gone on whilst I've been here, and people are usually supportive if you need advice or help of any kind.

I really love this board. I may be new, but here I have found a lot of people I can respect and learn from, and my time here has already deepened my understanding of my submission- the reason I sought this place out in the first place.

I don't know what category to vote under. I lurk more than I post, I guess that makes me an outsider.

I'm somewhere between C and B. There is a lot of great information here if you take the time to look. I agree the forum can be really funny, and I have enjoyed talking to the few people I've met from here. On the other hand I think it can be a bit cliquish depending on how "real" a poster is perceived to be - which is one of the reasons I don't post much anymore.

Sorry about the dander. ;)

Fuck that letter grade shit, gimme a 1500 word persuasive essay. I left college for a reason.

I do like to hang around here , sometimes writing little posts , others just reading because of both my language difficulties and my real little experience about the bdsm lifestyle.

I found this forum a little intimidating at the beginning , but it was mainly for the above mentioned reasons and a kind of natural unwillingness to talk about things I don't know.

Now I feel more ease and I really love to read more experienced people's opinons . I'm learning, growing in the awareness of myself and moreover I have the privilege to share thoughts with some people I'm learning to appreciate for the high level of their knowledge and the grace of their understanding.

I dont care about occasional flames or opinions which sometimes are defended with too much " passion ", because not being on the contrary new at all to message boards world ( even if in completely different fields !) I perfectly know that it normally happens everywhere , and I must say I've been ( and quickly have left) in forums which in comparison even GB seems the "Nobel Prize Social Board " , and that not only in entertainment forums but even in so called techinical/ professional ones, where childish behaviours should be avoided for the sake of the aim at their basis.

On a message board it's physiological a certain amount of disagreements and misunderstandings and like all the forums even here we have our resident trolls or "agent provocatours "who every now and then spicy the ambience .

But I find that in BDSM forums , both talks and cafe, the level is average high , people are mainly gentle and motivated and it happens to have some real good laugh as well, which is always a great thing.

I dont care if my language is often grammatically incorrect and always at least surreal , I don't even care if someone laughs about it, cause I would laugh even more watching the "laughers " (saved some due exception) attending on a regular basis a foreign forum and being a mildly active poster on it.
Luckily my self esteem allows me to not be bothered about it !! :)

Besides imho the net must be taken for what it is and can give , besides (not talking of this board at all , but in a more general meaning ) it has the great advantage that if some people (or something) should really annoy me I ever am allowed with a single click to get rid of the whole matter , without the necessity as in real life often happens to be compelled to kick their ass out of the window :D :catroar:

Thats why I gave a B to it ( assuming A the highest )

sorry about my english which is even worse than usual , but its really an insomniac early morning post !! :rose:
