Rant about the scoring system and series system

OK. I hate how the scoring system seems to work with regards to chapters.

For example: Let's say you have a story like this

Chapter 1 - 200 votes avg 3.9
Chapter 2 - 20 votes avg 4.4
...
Chapter 5 - 10 votes avg 4.75

Now you get to the hall of fame... it's all chapter 76 of some bullshit story that the only people reading and voting are the fans of the story. But for me I look at these stories and they are not really that good.

I want the hall of fame to have a different metric --- or at least I want to see stories with really good readability surface.

A metric like, returning readers --- or verified author ratings would be more interesting.

I want series rating to be front and center (or at least discoverable) that way I can find the good and interesting stories, instead of having them buried behind chapter 27 of bully mc bullshit.

Rumour has it that the site is working to limit chaptered series to a single entry in the Hall of Fame lists. Whether it will happen or not remains to be seen, but at least they're aware of the issue.

Also, the all-time Halls of Fame have a minimum requirement of 100 votes.

That cannot happen fast enough. The entire first page of the nonhuman Hall of Fame is dominated by one author, and all but a few slots are from the same series. The rest of the pages are also dominated by that same author's 100's-of-chapters-long story.

I'm a small time author who writes slowly, and have 5 stories in that category, and 6 overall, but I've had two (of a mere 5) stories methodically attacked in a way that avoids the sweeps (one score of 2 or 3 every day around the same time), and the only reason I can come up with is that I had the gall to be on the HoF list.

Tbh, you can already filter by rating, so at this point I'm of the opinion that the HoF lists do more harm than good.

Sorry for the rant, but being the second time this has happened, it's really frustrating!
