I finished up a very riveting (and apparently well liked) story a few months ago and immediately decided to jump into another one.

This new idea had been cooking in my head as I was writing the last story

I'm a detail whore. I love to build a story into an epic, as opposed to getting right to the fucking. So with this new story, I got rolling on it, seemed to be snowballing into a great beginning... and suddenly global warming hit and my snowball melted.

I have the most dreaded case of writer's block/laziness that I think I've ever encountered.

Its discouraging because I was really excited to get this new idea underway, and then my energy just piddled out. So I thought I would bitch and see if anyone else can feel for me :)

Oh I feel for you! That happens to me so often, I think it's because I'm essentially lazy ;)

However, I tend to ifnd a little break, a little fun and I get back to it with a fresh enthusiasm once I've had my fill of procrastination :)

the problem is, i procrastinate all the time. and i find plenty of time for other things. i play video games, i read, i knit. actually, the only time i write is when i'm at work.

maybe thats part of the problem...

Oh, you'll fit right in here. We're a great big bunch o'procrastinators.

I mean, just look at how many posts I've made -I told ya I was lazy *L*

I have the same problem, I only get to write for like twenty minutes during lunch, and when I have free time at home, when I could conceivably sit down and write for two hours, I don't do it. What I find works for me is to ( whan at home) write for fifteen minutes, then go do something else, come back to it after lunch, another fifteen, then off on another tangent (usually here LOL). I try to lengthen the times I do write, fifteen, then twenty minutes etc.

Welcome to the AH, Winter. I'm going to risk sounding like a broken record (because I've said this many times before in similar threads) and say that the thing not to do is to force yourself to write when the words are not forthcoming. The creative process (to me) ebbs and flows; if the tide's out, there's no way in hell you'll be able to set sail. So relax and don't stress about it because it only makes things worse. Your drive to write will return.

Welcome to the AH, home of the best procrastinators on Earth. :D Sit down, have a cup of joe and let us help pop your cherry. I promise it won't be painful. :nana:

Writing happens when it happens and not a moment sooner. I have several gems on the back burner and I write when the words hit my fingertips. That's usually when my SO is on this computer playing poker and I'm on the other computer without internet access, lol.
