I'm not sure how significant this expressway is in terms of moving traffic, but it sounds like the kind of major roadway that would inconvenience a whole lot of people who are simply passing through Chicago.
If that's the case, it's a stupid location for a protest march. Such a march would best be held on a city boulevard.

Precisely. Inconvenience as many people as possible seems to be the goal. Change 'inconvenience' to 'alienate' and I suspect you're looking at the end result. Roughly akin to a group of 4 year olds having a temper tantrum.

You said today's march was "about stopping gun violence." Today's protest march was all about shutting down the Dan Ryan Expressway.
