I think this'll be fun!

Mikey McKay, 25 years old, long curly brown hair, soft chocolate brown eyes, nice tan. When he first picked up his daddy's guitar at the age of 9, he could barely fit his hand around the neck to press on the strings, much less hold them down or hit the strings hard enough to make a note or chord. But he watched his daddy play, and soon enough he started to figure it out, sitting on that front porch in the middle-of-nowhere Georgia, USA.

He never thought those six strings would take him to Japan. He was playing blues and rock in bars down in Georgia when his band, "The Guardians" started getting invited to bigger and bigger festivals, playing for bigger and bigger crowds. Things were going really well until his bass player and drummer started sleeping together. Within a week they were fighting and couldn't stand each other, and sure enough the band broke up. Mikey couldn't have one of them without upsetting the other, so he had to let them both go. Later that year, he met the members of the up-and-coming Japanese band "Sacred Heart" at the Austin City Limits festival, and was quite impressed with their sound. He was astonished when they told him they'd been big fans of his and admired his guitar work. Their original lead guitarist had just had a baby and would be giving up music to pursue a "real" career with steady income, and they needed someone to fill the gap.

Mikey didn't commit right away, but he did organize an impromptu jam session the next night at a friend's place with Sacred Hearts. They hit it off from the first chord; Mikey was able to pick up their songs quickly and they were receptive to the new attitude he brought to the guitar parts with his embellishments and aggressive lead techniques. He plays an old red Fender Stratocaster, run through a wet-dry setup with a wah-wah pedal and a digital delay pedal connecting a vintage Fender twin amp with a pair of cabinets devoted to reverb. Of course, he also has his trusty Taylor acoustic on call for the more mellow tunes.

The result was a resurgence in Sacred Heart's popularity, in large part due to the popularity of their ever-changing live show.

That was two years ago. Sacred Hearts is now defunct; he hasn't heard from Ayama Miko in some time. He's been making a living as a studio musician in Tokyo. He loves Japan and has no intention of leaving anytime soon, though when he's not working he can usually be found drowning his sorrows at one of several downtown bars. It's usually the bar with the loudest music going on.
