So of course Trump, thinking he is smarter than everyone, actually allowed Woodward to tape the interviews.

Apparently the board Trumpettes have more trouble admitting they knew their stance on the pandemic was going to needlessly kill over a hundred thousand people than Donald Trump has in admitting it. At least they are the same in not caring this is so.

He did it because it was Bob Woodward of the Watergate writing and it was Trump's chance to be covered on that level. The man is much too sick to understand how sane people will take what he had to say in response to Woodward's "encouraging" questions. His craziness has made him totally irrational.

with the right information, solid leadership, honesty and a united, non-political front, people would have been given the best available tools and information to prevent such casualties as they waited for science to develop the vaccines and treatments. that's not panic, that's having a nation-wide goal which would have borne critically better results than we have so far.
his lack of leadership, his direct misleading of the gullible public (something he's still engaged in, day-to-day) for political ends meaning a lack of following the best guidelines of masks/social distancing/handwashing? all down to him. his republican senators and other bootlickers are culpable as his enablers.

and they just played an exchange between sanjay gupta which took place AFTER his woodward interview (where he claimed it--covid--was 5 times deadlier than the flu) in which trump clearly states to gupta that flu was much worse than the virus.
that is direct, in-your-fucking-face outright lying when he had the correct information.
all those people who've had loved ones die or maimed or damaged from covid19 must be so hurt and angry about this. i can't even begin to imagine how hard that must be for them.

i'd qualify that:
republicans' morals seem to be much more concerned with what makes life better for themselves, personally, with dems being about 'what makes life better for everyone?'
i'd go on to say that it's my overall perception of the usa populace that about one third are truly altruistic, a third completely selfish, and that last third a mixed bag of the first two. it's kinda scary how many people are really horrible examples of humanity, but i can't give up on the other two thirds.
there IS hope.

Um...... When there actually IS a fire, the Fire Marshall usually tells people the truth about the danger it poses, and tells them to take the necessary actions to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Fire Marshall Trump failed to warn the public about the danger posed by the Covid blaze and a lot of people got burned.
